I know we have only just got the new 12 but has anyone heard any news on the next set of new colours? I'm sure originally when the second set were being released in October 2010 they said another set of 12 would be released shortly. Anyone got any inside information on colours or dates?

September is a long way off again - I was hoping we'd have some new ones for the summer months. My clients love some of the new colours but everyone keeps saying they want more fashion colours.

I'm ready to be flamed here but I'm slightly disapointed with the new colours, just find some of them too similar to the original 12, in particular. I know you can layer colours to create different colours but I don't always find the coverage good and they don't particularly make brand new colours, more a toned down version of the original colour, Black Pool and Iced Coral being the exception.
Not knocking Shellac as a product because I think it's brilliant but colour range is too safe...
Got my flak jacket on and ready for ya!!

I'm loving some of the new colors , from what I've read there all formulated differently so i dont think it's as easy with shellac as just adding color to clear gel and bottling it,
Can you imagine the up raw if a color wasn't stable? Couldn't be fully cured Or turned gray after a few days ?
Some things just shouldn't be rushed, shellacs one of thoughs things IMO
The only one I've been a bit ggrrr about is rock royalty it's just not at all shimmery like I thought it was going to be ,
So hoping that the next collection is more blues , purples , yellows and effect types and less reds and pinks , another French white would be fun to

Ive layered a really good colour that comes close to it! just a little darker!
2x Blackpool
1x iced coral
1x negligee
goes a really nice turquoise colour :)
1 thing that i thought (and my clients) that masquerade was a bit of a waist of colour as ive you layer Fedora and red barrenness its basically the same colour! x
you can get two turquoise colours using blackpool / iced coral / negligee - it was posted in shellac lovers group ... with pics ! njoy xx

OK, the other problem with layering is that you're using 3 - 4 coats which in real terms will cost you more money as you're using so much more product. And also do you think that by layering 4 colours plus base & top makes it slightly too thick and more liable to wrinkling and/or chipping??
Just a thought?!?!?

I agree actually, in the most part anyway. I think some of the new colours are too similar to the original range. I don't think I will be bothering to replace a few of the very similar ones. I love blackpool and cocoa. My clients would love more on trend colours. I agree that layering isn't always a good option because you don't often get a completely different colour. So many clients want grey/taupe/mushroom colours.

yeh layering 4 colours is going to cost more and take more time! but this was just for myself as just the iced coral was to green :) x

I always charge extra for more than two coats of color, whatever they may be. $2 US per extra coat.

I find clients don't really want to pay more for extra layers for a different colour. They just want more colours!

I use
1 base
2 color
1 top coat
Konad stamp
1 top coat
and have had no issues with the wrinkling. Maybe because I use 2 top coat? not 4 color

I put the konad stamp directly on top of the colour coat, it saves time and product this way as you only need 1 coat of top coat :)

Wrinkling docent come from the amount of layers you add as long as they are cured in-between & nice and thin .
It seems to happen if you do one layer to thickly ,
Lots of thin layers are fine.

I was doing it that way , but if the stamp was not working well I would wipe it off and some of the color would come too. So then I would end up doing one more color coat, ugh.

I bought all twelve new colours and don't get me wrong - I love them  BUT my clients don't like the layering effects and tbh I think they can be a bit hit or miss depending on how thick or thin the colour is in the bottle (new ones seem thinner even after a really good shake!).
So my clients have asked me for more fashion led seasonal colours and I hope that SS will bring out more before the end of the summer as I am not sure my clients will 'keep interested', as they are all very similar....

I still love Shellac too but many of my clients have said that some of the new colours are very similar to the original colours and they are abit disappointed. If I could tell them more are on the way then this would be great!

I'd like something bright, like an orange, maybe a true blue, a navy that you could lighten to various blues, a true gold and silver would be nice too :D

I agree....silver, gold, navy. Very nice. I can feel a nautical look coming on! And I would love some pastels. Very pretty and great for nail art.
Can't get enough Shellac!

Ooooooh I would love navy.
I saw Amanda Holden on BGT the other week wearing a navy polish and thought I've got to have some of that, preferably in shellac :)

Layering is a fantastic technique, utilising 24 existing colours of Shellac. Use a your imagination, have a play and display to clients those other options.
My personal favourite at the moment is Black Pool with Iced Coral over it.

Fantastic, why not? If that's what they want make sure you have this option for them. More profit for you and more happy clients. Just make sure you advise your clients not to remove the polish every 2-3 days as this will start Shellac removal process.

I would also love to see pastels and other funky trendy colors. I love Rosebud and Black Pool will darken every color but the pastels are a little harder. I'd also like to see a gold or silver.
Maybe a light wash denim blue or pastel coral.
If any if these are possible to create I would love to hear "recipes" :)

Oh yes! One client has just gone on a cruise for 3 weeks. She wanted Iced Coral (to go with everything) managed to find that 'Make a Wish' polish matched it perfectly to hide her growth lines. But there are not many polishes to match Shellac exactly - most are out of stock.

Shellac colours are exactly the colours of discontinued enamels. However, if you log on to cnd.com, register as a professional, you will unleash a lot of useful information.
There is a breakdown of what colour and effect can create a discontinued enamel colour, which would also match Shellac colour.
