hi all,
I am not a nail technician, but did go to beauty school for two years. My question to you ladies and gents is this, I have been having acrylic nails applied on and off since 2005 - 2006. I went every three weeks for my rebalance, and had no issues. In january of this year I changed salons, since my current one had closed down and my nail tech moved out of state. This new salon had serviced me in the past, and I was happy with their work. However, within a few weeks of going to this salon (# 1 nails) I started noticing little tiny pin head size red dots around my cuticles and sides of fingers. Those dots turned to blisters, and I did have some skin peeling on a few fingers, so I applied vinegar to my hands and rubbed that in daily and the problem cleared up.. I changed salons in April of 2011 after the irritation came back. I assumed that it was due # 1 nails not doing a thurough job of sanityizing. I wnt to L.A Nails for a full set in April 2011. I made sure that the nail tech there was aware of the problem I had, and she assured me that they did not use anything with MMA in it, since I also thought # 1 Nails may very well use those products... but after three days of having the new set applied the same thing happened. I broke out in red dots, itching, and slight peeling. I contacted la nails and talked to the tech that applied my full set...she acted as though she had not heard of this issue before, and said to take benadryl or remove the nails. I contacted the BBB since I did not see the tech at LA NAILS sanitize or change implements between clients.. I assuemed again THAT ws the reason for my skin issue... I recieved a refund from LA NAILS and a letter from the manager stating that he did not think that I had an allergy.. since my symptoms did not sound like those of an allergic reaction. My previous nail tech came back and I made him aware of my skin problem. He did think it was an allergy, and when I went in for a fill, he said that If I developed the same issue, to come back in and he would evaluate me to see what the problem could be. For several months I was symtom free. The it appeared again! I was going to the same nail tech as in the past, and couldn't figure out what was happeneing. I just had another fill in done this past saturday and have the little red dots again... what is this? I have not contacted my nail tech, since i haven't had a chance to get to him... should I ask my family doctor? I get allergy shots weekly for seasonal, dog, cat and dust allergies, and I am also gluten intolerant... I have been GF since mid April of this year... I am also taking some medications...500mg Metforming, 200mg Labatalol, 75mg Effexor( the skin problem occured after the effexor was prescribed...I had been taking seroquel before that and did not have a skin issue) Multi vitamin, prenatal supplement since I am ttcing, and folic acid. I have really weak flimsy natural nails and have tyried all kinds of hardeners and treatments from OPI to Duri rejuavacote, sally hansen, and nutra nail and nothng has stregnthened my nails. They rip and tear when I was my hair, crochet, and they bend like rubber when I push any buttons or type... any ideas or suggestions on what this skin problem is?
