Evening all, today I have done a face wax on a not so clean complexion. However I assessed the contraindications, pre cleansed & carried the service out. Took great care to work in small sections, and ensured wax heat was reasonable also confirmed this with client. Soooo what happens on the right side of cheek? A small top layer of skin comes away!! I made the client aware of this & she said nothing? Left peacefully after paying, however I still feel sick as this has never happened with me before... I just Cnt stop having this sinking feeling in my stomach, as she was a new customer :-/ all after care advice was given also, but god! How/ whydid this happen!!!!!????

Someone please advice, I feel so sad about this.

Kind Regards

Nikki

ahhh thats awful - possible suggestions, wax too hot, wax too cold, you didn't stretch properly, you pulled at a bad angle eg pulled the strip up, skin was delicate/ not suitable for waxing

on the positive - likelihood is you wont let it happen again

Not quite sure what you mean by a not so clean complexion.Do you mean they have spots etc.

*Loveleelady- I just don't understand it? As I feel that I done the wax 2 the best of it's ability following all procedures, stretching, correct direction, reasonable wax temperature.. However also feel that the skin may have been sensitive... However this was not declared.

Appreciate your assistance.

*Geek, What I mean by not a very clean complexion, is yes it had a few pink spots, however not visible as in ready 2 burst or weeping... Just underskin imperfection....

It's also possible that she suffers with eczema and didn't tell you, or she's over used steroid cream in the past, which has left her with thinned skin and didn't think or know to say anything.
There are so many things that are beyond our control, were you using hot or warm wax? I personally prefer hot, sometimes called hard wax for the face because it's less likely to take the skin with it but regardless all you can really do is what you are doing, more research so that you can ask more questions with your next client.
Try not to take it to heart, she didn't yell or start crying and we are always our own worst critic

If you know that you did everything correctly with regard to wax temp, supporting the skin as you removed the wax etc, then it sounds as though your client could have been on meds that she didn't tell you about or maybe she has been on Roaccutane (Acne treatment) within the last 6mths. Maybe she's been using a face peel?
