Hi there

I have been approached by a local lady whose 16 year old daughter is an irish dancer and they are looking for a new spray tanner. They usually have an 18% DHA solution as apparently they need to be as dark as possible! The max I use is 14% DHA and my every day clients prefer a more natural look!

So, I wondered if there is anyone out there who could recommend a particular brand which works well for these dancers? Or, if there are any companies who are able to send samples please?

Thanks

I know OMG do a 20%, and i've only used it on younger people who loe the really dark look. Sorry not much help.

I know that LA tan do very dark brown tans, can't really remember the percentages (they do a 16 and 18 can't remember is theu did a 20%). I think La tan is definitely worth looking into.

Sienna X do a 16% which is recommended for dancers. I used it on a client on Friday & on Saturday she looked really dark, but not orange. You can order a trial size too hth

La disco tan! C

La disco tan! C

La tan disco is 18% and it's very dark. I personally wouldn't wear it if u paid me a fortune but I use it to tan students that are in regular dance shows and musicals x

Nouvatan also do a 20% but I've not tried it yet so couldn't tell you much about it!

LA Tan do Disco 18%, FAST 20% and Nouvatan do a 20%.

Any of those should be dark enough for what your clients are asking for. If you give them the choice then they will choose the 20% solutions as they want to be as dark as possible (I think it gives them more points the darker they are).

Best way would be to ask the different companies for samples of the darkest solution or darken the solution you have with DHA booster drops to enhance the tan outcome.

One thing to bear in mind is that not every client will go as dark as the tan outcome very much depends on the ability of the skin to tan, so a client with skin type 1 wont be tanning as dark as a meditarranean skin type.
Its also worth trying different solution as a solution of 16% might be having a darker tan outcome as another solution due to the other ingredients used in the formula , so its worth a try!

Suntana has got a new dark tan called blackberry ,thay also send free samples,i use Suntans in my salon and love it.x

Nouvatan 20 % ive tanned a few dancers with it x

LA Disco 18%, OMG 20%, Sienna 16%, they are all good for performers... I found the following: LA Disco is good but bear in mind the colour guide is exceptionally dark, so final colour isn't always as expected. OMG goes on well and final colour looks almost the same as colour guide. Sienna 16% is a good colour for a slightly younger client who doesnt nessesarily want to look really dark.....

For my ballroom dancers, who are renowned for thier mega 'dark' tans, I currently use OMG 20%. Some of my clients have had a spray tan one day and then another the next... Double trouble!!!

Some even put a wash off tan on top of that too... Rimmel is good and you can get a water resisitant one that is good if they sweat a lot while dancing.... Happy Tanning XXX

I use LA tan disco which is 18% for dancers, and this works fine. LA tan will send you a sample to try if you ask them.

Thanks for your answers - I really wanted specific info from therapists who have spray tanned Irish Dancers as they are apparently awarded extra points for their "presentation" and judges look for a very dark tan against the knee high white socks and the costume, and its the contrasting effect that impresses them.....

So, I currently use LA Tan anyway as one of my solutions (but do tend to specialise in more natural looking tanning!!) and I trialled the 18% Disco & the client and her mum were very impressed.... especially as there are darker bronzers in LA Tan, it was the best one they had tried for that purpose!

extra points for a dark tan? What the heck?! Over here Feis wouldn't even let you wear a hair piece when dancing or you would be disqualified (so we had to sleep with rollers in and knickers over them to keep them in place lol). Crazy how things change!
