Reps!?

I've posted loads on here and received a few reps, but I've never given any as I have absolutely no idea how to do this as I use an iPad!! Would love to give some, as I've had some fab advice and help! I think it's long overdue now lol! Assistance appreciated., thanxx

The green box is what you click on to give Rep. Then there is room for a little comment that just you and the person your Rep'ing can see - well said - I agree with what you said - & that kind of thing.

And the red box is to report a bad post :wink2:.

Well I've just given my first rep after 970 posts lol! Given a few hearts though! I feel I should go through all my old posts and give out reps for the great advice I've had since joining lol! Just bumping this up because I was actually thinking about this today.

I LOVE the heart feature, I think it's great that we can acknowledge that someone has said something we like or agree with when it perhaps doesn't warrant rep being given iyswim?

But I think we should all still be repping too. I personally find the blue boxes a help to recognise those who obviously give great advice and correct advice as otherwise they wouldn't have as many blue boxes as they do. In fact, it's one of the first things I look at, their status as in what type of geek they are, i.e. grand, uber etc and then how many boxes are underneath.
So I think this feature shouldn't fall by the wayside and we should all still be repping when applicable, too.

I still give out rep, would be nice if everyone kept this up and not just solely use the new heart feature :wink2:

i agree with you planky. it is important geeks get the rep they deserve and not just for the users now but in the years to come it will be the new geeks guide to who has built up a good reputation on here.

If you use SG on PC or via Safari on your phone, next to someone's post in the top right hand side you will see 2 little boxes, one red and one green. If you want to give Rep, click on the green box and it will ask you to leave a little comment. The rep is usually given if you strongly agree with something the poster has said, or they have given really helpful advice or such like.

The more rep a user gets, the more little blue boxes they get and if you hover your mouse over the boxes, it also gives you a film quotation depending on what level you're at with your posts :D

If you want to see who has the most rep, or how you are doing ;) then if you go to the members list (click on other and you wil see it) then click on the word reputation and it puts all the members in reputation order :eek:

I think I may have given a rep before - sometime ago... I thought the Heart 'like' had taken over instead - so will now REP again...:lol:

Positive Rep should = totally correct advise and shows your knowledge (reputation)

Negative rep should = completely incorrect or speculative advise that should not be followed

Heart should = I support your opinion and want others to know it (love what you said)

I also agree app usage for both would be very helpful ... Sam??

There is no longer negative rep. The red box is to report a post - for advertising or arguing etc... if you click on a red box there is a little note that tells you what you should be reporting.
