Hi guys, im not a waxing geek but just have a little query about when i have my wax done. Iv been going to the same therapist for many years. I have my brazillian wax done every 5-6 weeks. she uses a strip wax method, my query is, that after a week of beeing waxed the hair is coming back through very itchy and sore v much like shaving rash. So it is only for 1 week that i have a smooth hair free area, then im waiting the further weeks for it to grow long enough to be waxed. Is this the norm to only be getting one week out of my brazillian wax. I just thought i would query it? many thanks lovelies.xx

You should be getting longer than a week out of your Brazilian. Hmm perhaps she is breaking the hairs rather than pulling them out at the root. What does the hair look like when it comes through? Does it come through nice and fine or with a flat end?
Hope that makes sense!

erm its hard to say, it just feels all bumpy and itchy and look bloomin awful! not much help am i! get lots of ingrown hairs , but i do exfoliate so? Its just a little frustrating, I just thought I should be getting a little longer out of my wax but just wasnt sure if this was the norm. x

I agree i get at least 3 weeks out of my wax. always use hot wax for bikini area, does your therapist use hot wax at all, try suggesting this to her.

No you should definitely be getting more than a week. Ingrown hairs are quite common in the bikini area, I suffer quite badly too. Do the hairs feel spikey when they come back through?

No she doesnt use hot wax just strip wax, yes I suppose they do feel spiky when coming through. thanks for the input guys. not sure what to do now as Im getting ready to be waxed again, but feel a little frustrated to be spending £22 on a wax that will only last a week. x

If they feel spikey then she's breaking the hairs. Could you try someone else?

You should get a couple of weeks of being almost bald, then they'll start to grow back in nice and soft.

Stubble can be from breakage but it can also be to do with your hair type. I do notice that people who get waxed with strip wax can have a lot of hairs under the skin (not what I would call ingrown though). That could be down to the skill of the waxer rather than the type of wax used.

Exfoliate and moisturise. x

Thanks for all your input, they def don't grow back soft and fine, and as Kim mentioned when iv been waxed I can see hairs lying as such underneath the surface. It's a v tricky one as I really do like the therapist as a person , I just don't feel 100% satisfied with my wax and in particular how long it's lasting. Does anyone know of any good Brazilian waxers in the Derbyshire area? are we able to request that on here or does anyone know where I can find out? Many thanks lovelies. X

Where abouts in Derbyshire are you? That's my home county and I know someone that could do it for you? I'm from Peak District x

Thankyou lovely, I'm from west Hallam? Don't know whether you know the area at all? Xx

I agree with a lot of what has been said here regarding broken hairs but I like my ladies to come every 4 weeks and I find this avoids the early show of hairs. Try going a bit sooner and see how you get on then. :wink2:

I had a bikini wax with warm/strip wax and it was horrible!! Sore for over a week! The bumpy plucked chicken look never when they turn into ingrowing hairs! I had to use exfoliating wipes and lots of moisturiser just to keep it under control but it was the worse wax ever!! I would get a hot/non strip wax done!

Ahh so south Derbyshire. Well I was going to say I know someone in Sheffield that I used to work with but a bit too far away I think! Good luck finding someone and enjoy those beautiful hills I miss them xx

Aww no worries thanks for looking into it for me much appreciated. There seems to be a specialised waxing salon in Nottingham, I think il give it a try.x

Hi, nkd in Nottingham is fab, they use hot wax and specialise in intimate waxing. They are just behind Jack Wills in the city centre. I'll personal mail you my details, if you tell them I've referred you, we both get 25% off. I've only been once before but it lasted about 4 weeks and is still much softer and finer hair than before, I'd definately use them again

Brilliant that's good to know, I always like to go somewhere that has been recommended and that was the salon I was looking at, not 100% sure where it is but think I will be booking an appointment this week.xx

It's between the Broadmarsh and Victoria centre, nearer the back entrance of Broadmarsh, across from Flannels. There is a Starbucks next to Jack Willls and the salon in on a small lane at the side of Starbucks - quite posh !
