Random... But I was scoping Facebook and I seen a very public argument between two extensionists in my area, basically one saying to the other 'I'm bigger, better and more experienced than you.'
She then came away with, 'I bet you don't even know that if hair extensions aren't fitted properly, they can cause a throat infection'
Has anyone heard this before? Please elaborate if you understand this as I've never heard of this before!

It is baffling, but I have heard similar from my aunt who is a hairdresser.(forgive me, I'm not a hair pro)
She mentioned once after a seeing a client that was sick, that scalp and skin infections can often lead to swelling and infections of the throat- especially strep and staph infections because the bacteria that causes them can be found in the skin and in your throat.
Perhaps this is what the person you mention could be referring to?

what?!?! id love someone to elaborate on this!!! never heard it in my life, even working as a respiratory physio where i seen throat infections daily! what great extensionists they must be, arguing over fb ;)
ps if one of the great extension geeks proves this correct i will feel silly.......... :D

Perhaps this is what the person you mention could be referring to?
could be a secondary infection then - if the skin is broken/wounded the infection could be transmitted elsewhere.....?!?

Rather tenuous I think. Excessive traction, pulled hairs etc can allow infection into the follicles, so in theory it could allow a secondary infection to take hold.
In all my years of dealing with dire hair ext done by others, I have not come across it though.
Infected csalps and bald patches are the most common problems I see.

Did anyone else see the state of Katie prices scalp last night on sky? Bald patches on both temples!! , micro bonds showing left, right and centre!!
Is this down to incorrect fitting or from

I've heard she wears around 500 bonds though to get such thick hair, if that's true no wonder her hairs in terrible condition!

God 500!? I can only fit like max 150 in my hair and that feels so thick.

i heard that too - 500 bonds. you can often see them at her parting aswell! and it still manages to look like rats tails...... no wonder her hair is falling out! sure she had her hair bleached about 5 times in one day and extensions fitted that same night in one of her shows....

On her parting but wasn't sure, it's a salon near me that do her hair, as well as A large franchise chain in Brighton, x

Defo consistently wearing them!
As well as the masses of hair pieces she has added on, that pressure can not be good!xx

Quite sarah , thats what i was going to say she wears too many bonds and then sticks in clip-ins too. I read one interview with her that said she had so many ex & clip ins in that after a shoot her scalp.was bleeding .
