View Full Version : Do you ever stop learning?

I'm hoping to do some more courses over time. I have a "wish list" if you like. I'm doing courses as and when I can afford them.

I'm fully qualified in beauty and nails and have been so for a year now but there's so much more I want to learn. Intimate waxing, CND conversion, Lash Extentions to name just a few.

My partner (who is very supportive) said "when do you stop doing courses?" and I said "maybe it's infinite because there's probably always something new to learn."

I love learning new things and I think that is a lot of the appeal of working in beauty and nails :)

What are your thoughts? :)

You will never stop learning, but one thing to I think is that you can do too many random courses eg, faddy treatments, I think its best to master and go higher in the treatments you already do and think carefully about adding a new treatment. Say for example you train using CND, well you could do the conversion, then go higher and higher with the systems/products you are already using and become a specialist in what you do. I would say spend your money improving/updating and think very carefuly about adding loads of new treatments. xxx

Sarah makes a valid point.

I completely agree with this and log on to Salon Geek everyday to check out what's hot and what's not in the field of beauty. I've just finished my Level 3 beauty course (yay!) but will certainly be doing short courses in other skills in the years to come. I think it's very important to pick and choose carefully and not to jump on the bandwagon.

I agree with this.

For example, I was considering learning threading but I think I prefer using wax and/or tweezers.

I'm not saying that threading isn't worth doing because I know that clients who love it really love it and it looks like an awesome skill to have. Tis just that I can't see myself being able to master it so I'd much rather be good at waxing and invest in further waxing training.
