I just needed to vent my anger at the cheek of some people!!! I have a lady who I have been to a few times over the years but I wouldnt call her a regular. She contacted me last week about getting a Shellac done for her and her friend asking me if she could get french and prices, I told her this and didnt hear back. Today she contacted me to see if I could do them both on Thursday afternoon at her friends house saying her friend couldnt get out much as she had a disabled daughter, her friends house is a little out of my area I cover but I thought I'm quiet Thursday and theres 2 of them together so may as well.
However she said money is tight for us both and we can only afford £15. I politely went back and said I would be happy to help them out but my Shellac was £XX and I couldnt move on that! What a cheek!!! I feel for the situation but I'm not a blooming charity, they would never go into a salon and ask for it on the cheap!!!!! I maybe quiet on that day but not desperate enough to flog myself cheap!!!
Sorry rant over I just couldnt believe it!!:(

Good on you.
If you did give it her on the cheap she would expect it everytime.
Well done for sticking to your guns :-) x

Maybe i am a bit of a sucker for a sympathy story but i would of done it especially if you are quite on thursdays, I suppose it depends on how much you usually charge I only charge £20.00 for shellac so if it was two clients and they are new clients I would do it as a one off and make it clear your only doing it at a discount for being first time customers. ( I am still new to being mobile so need new clients) once they see how good shellac is I am sure next time they would be willing to pay the full price.
But i do see where your coming from as you have a price list for a reason and its not a market stall where you can negotiate prices.

I know where you're comming from but they're not in an area I normally cover so I felt that I was already doing them a favour going out to them there let along knocking more money off! I'm not always quiet on a Thursday but was this week for some reason but at the end of the day I need to make a profit and run a business too. And yes I felt that they would always have expected it at £15 after that. :)

I'm going into Tesco later. Going to fill my trolley right up. Then when I get to the till I'm going to ask if they could possibly knock a tenner off it as I'm a bit skint at the moment. Same principle. Don't do it! :D

That was like me last week a client asked how much colour would be I said 40pounds and booked in for thu so I txt on thu to make sure she was still having hair done as I had a feeling she would cancel and she said "oh doll I forgot to keep money by iv only got 34pound if you can do it for that" I did to txt back as I found it quite insulting to then which she txt me again and said "txt back" I did and said my colour is 40pounds so call me when you have the rest,to be honest some people are just chancers I mean as above said you don't go to tesco n say you only have x amount your running a business x

Yes not much point if it don't benefit you. if you can't afford the treatment than wait till you can.
I would love/need to have my hair done but got thousands of other stuff i need to sort so not a priority at the moment. and wouldn't dream of asking my hairdresser for a discount.

I wouldn't have done it for £15 either. Special offers should always be on your terms only, to fill cancellations, quiet days etc. If clients start stating what they are willing to pay then they always will do. It doesn't matter what line of work your in, you'll always have some people looking to pay less for a product or service. I take great pleasure in smiling & politely saying no. I wouldn't let it bother you in the slightest x

Oh I know the feeling of that I have one friend who does that all the time and must admit its starting to to really get on my nerves x
i think u have definitely done the right thing, i dont give discounts out to new clients or someone who comes once in a blue moon if that (they will expect them all the time, and could only be a one time client only) i only give offers and discounts to existing clients who show me loyalty and the discounts are on my terms not on theres. I have a business to run.
I'd rather not have the money that day then have people think im a push over and pressume they have a right to discounting my products and my time and as someone else has said you wouldnt go to tescos and demand £xx off ur shopping, so why is it acceptable in this industry?
Obviously people are going to have different views on this, again everyones entitled to theirs, but this is mine.

Haha its quite funny that someone would have the cheek to even ask for this, id never dream of it! U done the right thing, some people just try their luck! Has she booked in for shellac now? Presuming she found the extra pennies!

I had a lady text me today saying how much for my hair extensions out colour and a trim. So I reply with a price, her response "is it any cheaper I get it all done on the same day". I was furious but politely replied no sorry it's the same price.
I'll go to tesco to do a massive shop next time and say because I'm buying all these items is it any cheaper than if I buy exactly the same things on 3 different days.
LOL you just gotta laugh at people sometimes they are off their rockers!!!!! X
