I did one of my regulars last night with her usual 10% sunless solutions she has text today to say its much lighter than usual in some places , i dont know what could have caused this but more to the point how can i rectify it for her wedding she is attending tomorrow... i only have sunless 8% and 10% and la tan 10% and fast tan in stock ... any ideas?x

I have only recently completed my tan training but I do remember more experienced tanning geeks saying not to tan over an existing one as this can cause patchiness.

Have you tried the manufacturer for advice? How about if she exfoliated like mad to take of the current one and then you re-do?

Good luck! I hope some experienced tanners reply in time.

Assuming that the tan itself is ok (not patchy etc) then I would respray with the 8% Solution. I would suggest that you stick to the same brand when respraying to avoid any unwanted disasters! Make sure you advise that she may find it wears off quicker then usual. HTH

p.s: Just for reference did you shake the solution bottle before her 1st tan? This might be the cause of it appearing lighter, although there are lots of other possibilities too!

Theres a number of questions you need to ask her, is she on antibiotics as that can sometimes affect it, did she have moisturiser on? did she shower or bath not long before, she may have left some product behind! Were you always spraying at the same distance and trying not to overlap where possible? Do you regularly wash your gun out with water every time its been used, I once got slack and a similar thing happened which taught me never to do it again!!! And as other posters have mentioned did you vigioriously (sorry I cant spell!) shake the bottle before pouring into the cup?

Lisa and the girls at the Sunless office are so helpful if you still cant fathom a reason as to what it could be! x
