Hi Geeks

Ok I have my website which has been up and running for around 2.5 months. I have done as much as i can with the knowledge I have with regards to SEO but it still needs some work.

Anyway, cut a long story, does anyone have any recommendations of anyone reliable and reasonable?
I am on a tight shoestring budget.

Thank you geeks xxx

As a start, it might be worth posting a link to your site - there's a few people on here (me included to a certain degree) who might be able to give you some quick pointers.

Hi, got your message with your site address on - might be worth actually adding it to this thread (I haven't just in case there's a reason why you haven't done so).

There's nothing obvious that really needs changing; I'd suggest that the only reason you're not ranking just yet is because the site has only been up a few months. It often takes a while for Google to start ranking sites properly (I believe this is deliberate - a mature site will rank more highly as there's less potential for it to suddenly disappear again).

I'd try running it through this site as well

Free SEO Analysis - Pear Analytics Website Analyzer (http://www.pearanalytics.com)

It'll tell you if there's anything you could do with changing.

Without a link to the website it's a tad difficult to give pointers but if I may take a moment to shoot from the hip...

Page titles should be descriptive an no longer than 70 characters per page.
ie: Shellac Nails | Birmingham or Nail and Beauty Salon | Birmingham.

There is keyword nesting that can be used where we would use the word (or combination of words) Shellac repeatedly in a page. For example a Frequently asked questions post is perfect for such a page.

Every Picture in your website should be named according to the purpose of the page content. Shellac_Nails.jpg or Shellac_Nail_Salon.jpg as example. Yes Yes some designers will bomb me and say .jpg are you nuts? This is only from the hip remember use any format you want. Make sure it's as tiny as possible so your page loads fast.

Loading speed of a website is counted in so make sure your hosting company is up to scratch and your page is not overloaded and slow.

Make sure ur website is mobile friendly. The world is going mobile - PC's are dying if not dead in some cities already.

Use every free business directory you can find to advertise your website. As many links back to your website as possible. The more links the higher your ranking.

Go to google places and add your Salon to the directory it's free and usually overrides any and all SEO you can implement to put your and competing salons right on the top of google search. Get every friend you have to write a review on google places for you the more the merrier. You want to be on top - best you nag everyone till you have all the reviews you can find. 1-3 reviews little change in rankings 5+ makes a noticeable difference.

Remember to think how your potential client would think. Page titles and keyword nesting should represent what a potential client would type in google search for.

Open up that facebook, Twitter and google+ pages. You might not get a single like or +1 ever and that will definately put a buzz kill on your mood. Likes are as relevant as a dead candle on a date. Once completed go to hootsuite.com create a free account to pull your website rss feed to facebook/twitter/blog automatically. That surely saves every woman the time they need to worry about other just as important things.

The rss feed is an item that should be taken up with a designer. In today's SEO content is king. However from a designing point of view - No one likes to read. Getting them to your website is one thing. Getting them to believe in you is another. But getting the contact is even another. Use video where you can and email those newsletters every month they work - promise.

I wish you and every Salon owner the best of wishes and may your Salon just like cream always rise to the top :)

There are two people on Salon Geek that I'd recommend; there's a guy called Mark - http://www.salongeek.com/members/seo.html - and then there's Phil Evans (Salon Guru) - http://www.salongeek.com/members/salonguru.html - both have done SEO work for my clients in the past.
