Hi lovely skin geeks
Firstly a big thank you to you all.. I really enjoy reading your threads to continually improve my knowledge!
I decided to add spray tans to my list of services & just trained with a company called fresh indulgence & paid for an afternoon training But the trainer had the ts20 but i ordered the ts50 kit.
Ive only done 4 people so far & I'm coming across a few probs which I hope u can help with.(i had a lovely trainer but she is poleaxed by a nasty bug & don't want to keep hassling her with questions all the time).
Firstly: my gun is set to 5 as any lower & it didn't seem to hardly come out but now I seem to get overspray in areas like creases of neck ...think I'm prob standing too far away with gun on too high a setting? (as I'm also using way too much solution!) .... So would I be better standing a bit closer but turning setting down slightly?

Secondly: IF you do overspray - what do you do!? I'm sure my trainer blotted gently with mitt then lightly misted again but when i do that it makes it go really patchy!:(. I know it looks fine after the customer has had first shower but don't want my clients walking round before development time finished with "dirty turkey neck!"

Please advise geeks! Thanks for your help.
P.s. what do you think of fresh indulgence?anyone use it? Thinking of trying nouvatan too when perfect application techniques. How do the 2 compare? Lynn

Hey hun
I also use fresh indulgence I have the ts20 and put it to the " 20 too" mark (being a clock) on the gun and just enough solution comes through with the neck I get the client to lift their head and spray once up towards the chin
All my clients love the fresh indulgence as it gives a lovely colour and lasts nearly 2 weeks.

HTH xx

Thanks for that: I do get them to lift their heads up when I spray neck but still get the same probs... What is ten to 2 equivalent in the ts50 gun?

Thanks for that baggy bear - will check gun out in morning. Can you answer my other question? If overspray DOES happen ... What's the best way of dealing with it?

When you have sorted the settings on your gun there will be a lot less chance of you over spraying any areas.

If I do get a little run or I catch the same place twice I just blow it with the air hose and leave it alone. I do not dab, blend or anything. I just leave it because any attempt to do anything about it will affect the look of the guide but not the outcome of the tan.

It a rare thing to happen once the gun settings are correct and you have mastered your routine.

100% in agreement on this one. DONT MESS WITH IT. Sorry for shouting but often dabbing and blending can cause a whole mess of problems. You will notice immediately if you have sprayed too much so you will stop, won't you? If so, just blow those areas dry and wait for the wash off in a few hours. Almost always there is no problem once it has fully developed, and if there is a problem a slight exfoliating buff evens the color out perfeclty.

Make sure to read through the thread I linked to as well as there is information in there about the front nozzle affecting the number the gun needs to be set on :wink2:

Yes have just stripped gun, cleaned & reassembled then tested on couch roll ... It is now coming out at the correct flow on just no 2! Before it was no 5! Keeping my fingers crossed that all will go well with this client as she has had lots of spray tans before & she could potentially rec lots of new customers to me.Feeling bit nervous

your problem was that the front retaining ring was too slack now that you have set the gun correctly draw a straight line in nail varnish on the retaining ring and onto the gun body. next time you clean the gun you will be able to set it back to where it is now and your numbers on the rear dial will always be the same. we show this now in our training on the ts50 to ensure nobody has the problems you have mentioned a 2nd time :D happy to help

Aaargh! Still over sprayed on back of client .. Was on number 1-2! Then adjusted ring at front of gun very slightly & then cdnt get anything to come out at all. Kept fiddling with nozzle & settings (hoping client didn't notice nothing was happening!) and managed to do half decent job in the end. I'm such a perfectionist anyway but the combination of super sensitive & very powerful gun combined with inexperience is not a good recipe. :o
Thanks to nouvatan guy & ESP baggy bear for the links u sent. Ps will be ordering next time from nouvatan as your customer service alone is excellent!heard great things about your solution too!
Are there any geeks out there in Leeds area who have ts50 that could spare 15mins to check I'm doing everything correctly? Feeling a little insecure

TS50 Troubleshooting Guide

Q. The flow dial is turning all the way round, why is this?
A. The Air cap may not be screwed on properly. Tighten the Air cap ring fully and this will prevent the flow dial turning all the way round.

Q. How often should I clean the Helia Gun?
A. At the end of your spray Tanning session. We recommend if the gun is in use to clean at the end of the day and ensure parts are dried thoroughly.

Q. How often should I clean the needle?
A. We would recommend at the end of each day or at least once a week.

Q. How do I re-insert the needle?
A. Pull the trigger back when re-inserting the needle and tighten with the needle tool.

Q. What setting should my gun be on?
A. Each gun will be slightly different. We recommend testing each gun on couch roll before spraying onto your client. Open up the gun using the flow dial and scroll up until the solution is coming out at the correct requirement for you.

Q. After I have cleaned my gun, it wont spray the way it did on the same setting I had it on before, why is this?
A. The needle may not be screwed in completely after cleaning. Try and tighten the needle into position using the needle tool provided. Also ensure the Air cap ring is tightened fully.

Q. My gun is leaking, why is that?
A. After cleaning the needle, it must be locked back into position using the needle tool. Please make sure it is not loose. Also ensure on removing the needle not to damage the seal.

Q. How often should I clean my filter?
A. At least once a week. This can be cleaned in luke-warm water.
