Hi everyone, I have just joined, in fact I have just started in the beauty industry. I am having a total career change at the age of 35 :D
I am wanting some advice please, as the beauticians I am asking for help, for onvious reasons are not too keen in pointing me in the right direction. I do have many questions, so hope you don't get bored, and even if you could just answer 1 of them I would be very grateful, and Thank you in advance
1, I am training in nails, gel, acrylic, minx and shellac. Regarding acrylic, is it worth me doing a Creative conversion course? for the "name" clients choice and to buy their products?
2, same with Nouveau lashes, should I convert to their training again, same reasons as above?
3, could someone tell me the best spray tan solution to use, cost effective but with great results? I have bought the Sienna system?
4, where is the best place/shop to buy my products, I have Dennis Williams card and Ellison brochure, any others?
5, what is the best insurance, was thinking of BABTAC?
6, any reccomendations of up to date beauty mags?
7, and finally any general advice, opinions, help!
Thanks so much for reading xxxxxxxxx

It is worth you doing their training, or at the very least their conversion to be able to USE their top-of-the-range products and take advantage of the best training in the industry. That's what will make you a successful nail tech, not a name!
2, same with Nouveau lashes, should I convert to their training again, same reasons as above? Sorry don't know enough about lashes to answer but do know the Nouveau Beauty Group get a very good name for their lashes, in particular their LVL Lash System
3, could someone tell me the best spray tan solution to use, cost effective but with great results? I have bought the Sienna system? Sienna X is the market leader for professionals, they don't sell to the public - I have tried and trained for some of the best tanning brands in the UK and for Sienna for the last 4 years, although I always research new brands coming on to the market, nothing beats Sienna in my opinion, have NEVER had a client complaint!
4, where is the best place/shop to buy my products, I have Dennis Williams card and Ellison brochure, any others? Well that depends on what products you are using - if you decide to go for quality and t,he support that comes with that then I would suggest Sweetsquared for CND, Minx, shellac and tanning solution direct from Sienna.
5, what is the best insurance, was thinking of BABTAC? Research them all
6, any reccomendations of up to date beauty mags?Professional Beauty and Scratch
7, and finally any general advice, opinions, help!

Get it direct from Sienna X direct not EBay. It may be a little bit more expensive but you get what you pay for - would you go to the cheapest hair salon in your town to get your hair done?
You know what you're getting - there is no need to double-spray - financially it will work n your favour because all of your clents will return and no-one will suffer from snakeskin fading amongst other things.

I would always be a bit suspicious of cheap beauty products from e-bay. How do you know that the right thing is in there, how do you know it originally came from the correct manufacturer? There are some greedy creeps out there wanting to prey on inexperienced people. WHen you have the confidence to recognise the genuine products then maybe have a little look on e-bay for the odd bargain but unfortunatley buying cheap often means you have to buy twice.
Years ago I was looking for an HVLP SPray tan machine, searched all the suppliers, I always love a bargain so had a little look on e-bay and found a very inexpensive brand new one for sale. I bought it, waited and when it arrived I was really surprised. It wasnt what I expected, I had always used a compressor airbrush system so wasn't sure what exactly I was expecting with a HVLP system but it didn't look right.
I came on here and found out as I had suspected that they had sold me a Shed/fence painting spray system.:o
I kicked up big time and got my money back and didn't pay any postage, not even for the return!!!!
Then a few years later I saw a "little pig" on e-bay brand new blah blah blah
Bought it!!!! Would be perfect as a back up. It came and it was ..... an air bubble bath spa whirlpool effort. I got on to them and they told me I could use it for spray tanning as it was the same machine but I didn't want to take the chance and returned it and reported them for selling one thing and advertising it as something else.
Don't even get me started on all the Knock Off Shellac and nail products on e-bay
Anyway the the point of this long post is that when we are inexperienced or unsure of what we are purchasing the best thing to do is to use reputable companies for supplies
Good luck and dont be afraid to ask the questions, there is alway someone on here willing to help
