Hi there,

I've just been reading up on disinfecting tools and see many people use barbicide. I don't think I've come across this product here is Australia. I was wondering if anyone knew of an equivalent.

At present I have been told by my supplier to use; Viraclean details as follows;

MICROBIOLOGICALLY TESTED:Viraclean has been proven to kill:

Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA or Golden Staph)
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
E coli
Enterococcus Faecalis (VRE)
Acinetobacter
Acetobacter
Salmonella choleraesuis
Proteus vulgaris
Influenza virus
Herpes Simplex virus
Hepatitis B Group virus
I was wondering if this was sufficient for cleaning of metal tools or whether it was more aimed at disinfecting surface areas.

It also says for disinfection to use undiluted where as I've researched the barbicide gets diluted?

Hey chick.

Barbicide is used by hairdressers and is in Aussie!

The one you have quoted looks to do the trick very well also

I have found and used virkon, which may be slightly harder to find in Aussie
(try a vet surgery) but as a plus it does not need to soak. Simply spray on sanitized surface and let dry to disinfect...

Take a read of the article link below as it may be of help also...
