Hey Geeks,
My husbands birthday is coming up and as he is always moaning about not having books to read I thought of getting him a kindle. I am useless at all this techno stuff, he is the one that always makes sure we get the right stuff so any ideas on the best value for money one??
I have seen an equivelant one called Kobo for £72 (and I would get 10% off as I have a part time job at Asda) but has anyone ever had one of these??

I would just get him the Kindle.
I love mine.
I bought mine on Amazon for £89 and when it arrived it already had my details on it as I had bought from Amazon before. So all I had to do was switch on!
I have the Kindle app on my iPad but I definitely prefer reading on the kindle as the screen is easier to read with no glare, and it is so light and easier to hold that an iPad.
Also with one click you are straight through to the kindle shop to get another book the minute you finish one!

Another vote for kindle, it's not much more and it's ready to go with the kindle store etc. It's beautiful :D although now I have my iPad I only read on this!

Hi I have got a Kobo and have had no problems with it, its manufactured by WH Smiths and the Kindle is by Amazon, they both perform the same job. some are basic and some are touch screen. Its all according how much you want to spend. I have just the basic one and love it.
I brought some discs from ebay and ended up with 18,000 books for £10 bargain!!...xx

Thanks Clementine. Was swaying towards that one. When they first came out he was moaning that he couldn't see the point but lately has been whinging that he has no books to read! Think he will love it once he gets used to it!
Thanks again xx
I got the kindle touch off my parents for my birthday, it really is fab. And it's so easy to just get another book when you've finished whatever you're reading!

I've got a kindle and I love it. there are pro's and cons though. With Kindle you are tied to Amazon for downloading books whereas with the Kobo you can download from anywhere, although the books on Amazon are very comeptitively priced compared to other e-sources. I'd go for the kindle personally

I have a kindle, and think it's fantastic, I've only paid for a few books, I nearly always download free ones and so far (touch wood) they've all been good reads!
My client has a kobo though, and she swears by it :) so I guess it's a matter of personal preference! Enjoy x
My husband bought me a kindle 3G for Christmas, I thought I wouldn't like it because I'm a avid book worm and what can be better than paper and turning pages..
How wrong was I, I love my Kindle, I take it everywhere and as I've recently had an operation and I'm still recuperating its been awesome and I to get loads of free books (plus no one new I was ready 50 shades in public lol, what a bonus hahaha)
I would def recommend :)
