Pregnant client

hi ive checked through the threads for the answer, but couldnt find.

anyway i did a set of acrylics on a pregnant lady who's 6months gone. and by the 4th day she had lost one followed by another the day after. i dont understand as i've never had a problem with nails popping off as i "weld the buggers on" lol. all prep was done correctly. could it be hormone levels due to her pregnancy why there not staying on?

Has she had them done before?

All the usual questions really, were they to long for her?

Has she done something to them?

But having said all the above yes pregnancy can effect the nails so effect shellac, l&p, gels etc but its easy to use that as the excuse/reason. I've had several pregnant clients in past. Some are absolutetly fine with whatever treatment has been given others encounter problems and I know it was hormones as they were fine before and after pregnancy.

It's possible that hormonal changes in pregnancy has changed her nails. I'm 34 weeks and all mine have lasted as well as normal on myself! I don't wear extensions tho. It could even be down to diet -vitamin b and calcium -if she's deficient in these it can cause problems with nails pregnant or not I've had a client like this before anything i tried on her nails gel,shellac just came right off. Or maybe she's just being naughty and 'nesting' without the rubber gloves!?! If she had no lifting problems or nails mysteriously falling off before pregnancy then it should settle back down after baby's here but I suspect that having nail extensions on will be the last thing on her mind by then!!

I had bio sculpture overlays for ages & as soon as I fell pregnant they started lifting!! I couldn't even wear polish, it would just lift off!!

I was just about to post a very similar question. I have a client who is 32 weeks pregnant and the last two sets of Shellac has peeled off completely. I have asked all the usual questions but she says she hasn't done anything to them what so ever and I believe her. So could it be the fact she's expecting?

i have a client who had her baby 6 months ago and we are still having problems with her nails!!we have gone from shellac to bio sculpture and have been going through the different combos of bio top coats x

I had my baby 11 weeks ago and Friday did my nails to go to a wedding nails only lasted til Tuesday never put any while pregnant and usually last 3 weeks

I managed to wear mine with no problems when I was pregnant, and I had a client in today who had her baby last week and she's also been fine. Hormones are crazy though when you're pregnant and I don't think you can compare one pregnant lady to another when it comes to nails (or anything else actually!). x

Will vary from person to person but Yes pregnancy can effect enhancements .

I had a regular lady ( been coming to me for 10 years ) . her nails were always perfect . She fell pregnant and - bam .

They would stay on for love nor money . The literally the next appointment after having her baby , first maintenance appointment and hey presto perfect again - The proof is in the pudding :-)
