View Full Version : My own aftercare advice doesn't work on me!

For every client I spray tan or manual tan I give them all the same advice that we're taught and it works, regulars come back in a week-week and a half with their tan faded obviously but still even all over.

On myself however it's a different story! I'll apply the tan to myself 1 layer on a Thursday and another on a Friday. By Sunday it's already starting to flake off and go patchy (this is from every tan I've ever tried) I lightly exfoliate from day 3 and moisturise all over BUT the tan fades off so badly that I have now got into a routine where by Tuesday night I have to start trying to exfoliate it ALL off to apply from scratch on a Thursday/Friday night. There's no way I could apply over last weeks tan because it just fades so awfully! I've tried everything! St tropez, fake bake, xen tan, whitetobrown, sun labs, vita liberata, sienna x and others and all are the same.

I'm starting to get annoyed at only achieving a two day tan and then having to start removing it all.

Any advice?

Can I ask why your applying 2 layers (one Thurs and one Fri)?

Just for the depth of colour x

The bad fade off may well be caused because of the double application. Try just the 1 layer and see if the fade off is any better.

If you want a darker tan maybe try 1 layer of a higher percent solution but be aware that the higher percent solutions can too fade off worse than the lower percent solutions.

My problem is the tan on my face fades after 2/3 days but the rest stays lovely! I'm assuming it's the moisturiser but i can't not moisturise my face it will prune up!

What do you use to wash and moisturise with? It could be down to ingredients in these products that are counteracting with the tan
I've learned that dove shower gels are great for stripping tan but the devil when you actually want it to stay on! Also any oils in moisturisers can cause quicker fade off so best to use a light moisturiser

Have you tried using a tinted moisturiser on your face to help your colour last.

You could try using your normal moisturiser one day and a tinted one the next so that your not building up too much colour but are still moisturising.
