Hello,
So I qualified in beauty therapy last July and started working in my first salon in February, I am still working there and so far have refused to do hollywoods and brazilians as I have not been trained to do these at college and wouldnt know what do do , let alone the fact I have zero confidence in them and wouldnt perform the treatment on a paying client when I have no certificate or training to do so! My salon want me to do the treatments but will not send me on training to do so,I will not do them until I am sent, what are your views and opinions on this?? Surely it wouldnt be legal to let a therapist to a treatment without ceritifcation/training with a thing like this as they wouldnt be insured in case something went wrong?!
Your employer is in the wrong for this you are not insured to perform treatments unless you are qualified to do so! Quite right for standing your ground, if anything were to go wrong the responsibility would lie with you not your employer I wouldn't risk it

You are completly right with your views and thoughts on the
It is irresponsible to allow anyone with insufficient experiance let alone qualification loose on the general public.......there are also possible insurance cover issues here to consider

Stand your ground and do not do a treatment you're not trained, qualified and insured in.
If something goes wrong, it will be on your shoulders and that's not worth risking.
If it was me, I would ask to have a chat with my boss and ask them if they're aware of the risks involved. Your boss needs to know that under no circumstances is it acceptable to ask an untrained therapist to do intimate waxing.
If I was a client and I knew what was going on, I would be outrageously put off to be honest.
You're doing the right thing. Your boss isn't.

I was recently in the same position the salon wanted me to do brazillians and hollywoods with no formal training. They also did not carry out patch testing for tinting and to top it all off were using bluesky shellac, grrr. Needless to say I declined the offer of the job. Its therapists like this that give the industry a bad name and personally I wouldn't want to be associated with a salon that is duping clients out of their hard earned cash by miselling fake products/treatments and allowing therapists to carry out treatments that they have had no formal training in.
I would stick to your guns and tell them the only way you'll be carrying out these treatmenst is if they are going to send you on the training.
Good luck! x
Ask your employer to put in writing that they want you to do these without training, and that your manager accepts all responsibility and liability for any outcomes, because you are not sure on your position.
I suspect your manager will refuse to do this, strengthening your argument. If she does then you have evidence if she does take disciplinary action and you can take it further if you wish.
