The boys have Movember. Every year, boys take the moustache challenge on and walk around adorned in retro tash-style facial hair safe in the knowledge that people know they are doing it for charity (most of them). Now, Armpits 4 August is asking girls to get all Julia Roberts on their beauty routines and stop shaving their underarms for a month to raise money for Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome charity Verity.
I have to admit that the idea of not shaving or waxing my armpits during the summer after nearly twenty years of doing it religiously is more than a little daunting but, if you're doing it in the name of charity, I guess that's the point.
If this takes off, you may see underarm waxing appointments drop a little but perhaps raising awareness for Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome and the charity Verity, and perhaps even letting go of our obsessive need to be hair free, if only for a month is worth it.
Until then...geek on!
