Hi Geeks,

Wonder if anyone can give me some adive pls on a complaint from a client.
I have been trained for 18 mths now and I know i still have a lot to learn, which I am doing with help from Gigi nailclass book..a god send..but i thought my confidence was growing until this week.

Well I have done a set of nails before on this client and didnt have a problem. She is a nail biter but denies she is..yep 1 of them lol
Last week I did a set of IBD acrylic nails extensions with IBD just gel on top.
While I was doing her nails she mentioned her friend who had a set of nails by another tech and they all feel off the next day..I was shocked :@ but thought nothing of it.
Then when I finished her nails she was talking about all the IBD neon colours I had and how lovley they was and that she would have the next time.
The nails I done looked out of this world but she had them done for a wedding.

Then 4 days after I get a message on FB from my friend who knows the client. My friend told me that the client had PM her to tell her that her nails have feel off.. I was in shock and speechless.
I couldnt get over it that she didnt call me first. I was so mad that she PM my friend to make me look bad.

So like any professional nail tech I took action and called her.
On the phone she sounded shocked that it was me. She told me that she looked at her nails and ALL nails had come off and she wanted a new set.
Well i adviced her that i have never ever had a FULL set of nails come off and specially not in 4 days.
I went on to say that i would like to take a look at her nails. I didnt know what else to say as i was in shock plus speechless.
So I booked her in for tomorrow.
Well today she sends me a text to saying that she isnt well and cannot make it but can i do them next week.
I sent a reply saying that i really would like to see her nails as soon as possible and monday is the only appointment i have see her nails.

Then the cleint sends me another text saying yep thats fine but she has had to put polish on her nails..

Im so upset and mad at the sametime. When I first started training a had 1 or 2 nails come off but never a whole set.
Im not a always a confident person but this has knocked me.
IBD is is flex acrylic and doesnt damage the nail plate.

my questions is geeks is did I handle it right?
how do i put across to her that i will not be redoing them again? and should I put another colour on instead of the 1 before.

thanks for reading xxx

Hi, tough one as firstly she messaged her friend who was the one to tell you - not her ?!

Good on you for calling her although sounds like she is trying to pull a fast one! A full set won't all ping off after 4 days?! Something isn't quite right here!

I would suggest as she didn't contact you to tell/complain to you in the first instance and the time it has been since them 'pinging
Off' to having you look at them I would suggest you could either re-do the set as a one off and make sure she leaves 100% happy or offer a reduction on her next set.

Some people eh?!

i wouldnt do them again. its abit obvious shes lying somewhere because shes "ill" on the day your ment to be reviewing the nails.

I would also ask her to bring in the nails with her so you can see them. personally i wouldnt offer anything if she was "that" botherd she would have contacted you first. She obviously had her nails done got used to them by 4 days and was probably bored so bit them off lol xx

Good Luck xxx

I agree.. It seems fairly suspect that they've all just popped off... I've never had that happen so not even sure how they'd just pop off anyways... Seems strange also that she was telling you of a friend who that apparently happened to?

Agh..tough one.

I smell a rat. Either your are the worst nail tech. ever on the planet (which i know is not true) or she's trying to scam you. I think she's your competitions friend and is trying to make you look bad, the fact she didn't contact you is enough for me to not work with her at all. Handle her in anyway that makes sense to you but I'd not want her as a client. You got real clients that need your services. :)

Maybe she chewed them off..and thats why she painted them. Sounds weird her "friends" fell off so quickly as well. I personally think she probably peeled them off herself. And if she did? You will be able to tell when she comes in to see you.

Of course she prised them off herself and the surface of the nails will prove that. Remove the polish and watch the damage appear!

Explain that you are not so silly as to be hoodwinked by her and that you will not renew her nails !

Thank you everyone
Its just that it's my first client complaint. I totally agree with everyone, think she trying to make me look like a bad nail tech just to scam another set out of me.

You poor thing, I know how that feels!!! I had a woman told me once 'her nails came off'
She's a local in our village and whilst drunk some time later she admitted one lifted a bit so she picked them all off herself. I was furious. How could she not of just said that! I was panicking for ages about it and felt awful.

Anyway, don't back down and don't do them for free or even a discount. She can't be that disappointed with them if she's coming back to you and didn't complain when her nails 'fell off' :) xx
