Hi,

At the moment I am renting a small room in a ladies gym. I am probably getting ahead of myself, but my partner and I are thinking of relocating (his work, house /rent prices etc) and I am thinking that I would like a home based salon rather than a rented room somewhere, mainly due to rent costs (I am in my second month, so not even covering rent costs at the moment) and I currently share the room with someone in a different profession and they have made it look more like an office, and due to sharing I have too pack my things up each day I'm there and take them home etc.
Anyway, I was wondering if you are 'allowed' to have a home based salon in a rented property?
I guess it might be down to the landlords discresion, but does anyone have any experience of being allowed or not being allowed by their landlord?

Many Thanks all.

I will be setting up my home salon in a rented property. Got permission from my landlord and council. So long as there's not increased traffic or excessive noise I'm fine to go ahead! Talk to your landlord hth's x

Should also mention that the landlords insurance may or may not allow the tenant to set up a home business. Also, Do you rent directly from the landlord or through an agency because some agency's will not allow home businesses to be set up from their rented property's. Best bet would be to contact your landlord! Good luck x x

when i moved into my rental property i had to sign to say i would not be doing clients from the house, i'm guessing its to do with insurance because my landlords a nice guy and just leaves us to it, i cant imagin he would have a problem, we live out in the country with lots of parking and no neighbours to upset. i didn't really mind as at the moment mobile suits me, i live with my parents and have 2 large dogs so its abit of a no no x
