Why is my steamer alarming?

Was doing a facial the other day when to my horror, it started making the most horrendous loud beep sound and stopped working. Has this happened to anyone else before and is it easy to fix? I bought it ages ago whilst training and cannot remember where I bought it from.

I found that mine did it when there was a little bit of limescale in the water compartment

Actually it beeps when theres not enough water or if the water has evaporated and its been used too frequently. Just let the beep finish and ensure fresh water is put in. Its does that everynow and again! xoxo
