Hey guys! So I have no been up and running with my mobile beauty business for a few weeks now, I have been advertising like mad! On every free website I could find, set up a Facebook page and added loads of local ladies, but haven't had one client from all this advertising! I have been running special offers every month etc! :s I have a website up and running which is http://www.ohso-beautiful.co.uk/ if you want to have a look! And have also added myself to google maps!
I can't really think of anything else to do now? Has anyone got any advice for this? I have spent so much setting up and put my heart and soul into trying to get it up and running! :-(
I'm really struggling now and seriously feel like just giving up! Which I don't know what to, but it is begging to get me really down, I feel as if friends and family are laughing at me (type of thing) kind of knowing I would fail!
Any advice is so apresiated!

Get yourself out there where all the mummies are and promote yourself in a nice smart uniform. Summer months will be quieter as everyone is on holiday and all the children are off. You have only been going a few weeks. getting a steady client base can take months!!
Wait until all the children are back in September, then you will see a difference.

Thanx for the reply! I was thinking of trying something like that, but with being young I lack a lot of self confidence in going up to people I don't know and offering them leaflets etc! Xx

Well there is nothing you can loose from it!
You can give them a little sweet or something too with a leaflet. Everyone loves a bit of chocolate :0)
Are there any local cafe's/florists or somewhere similar that gets busy that you can leave some leaflets? Maybe offer all the staff in the shop a discount with you if they promote you to their customers?
I have heard so many times "Work will never just come to you; You have to go out and get it!" And do you know what, it's is so true!! I have learned that.

You could do goodie bags with your leaflets, offers and perhaps a sample etc and go to your local school one morning before they start. I use to do this for a salon and it worked very well.

Have you been practising on friends and family? Could they give out your leaflets to their friends etc? Word of mouth is always good and free!
Don't give up!! X

Yeah, I have done a few family, but I'm the girly one tbh! I think i just need to find the confidence to ask friends/family to hand things out! Sometimes I feel abit silly at 18 trying to start up a business! I think it's mostly confidence!

May I make a constructive criticism about your website please ? I think you have gone alittle over board with the use of exclamation marks on your website , they are everywhere on there :0 xxx

hi, I think you are being a bit hard on yourself, it takes a long time to build up a clientelle, took me years!! i have found that leaflet drops and advertising didnt work for me, i now only rely on word of mouth, yell.com works if you dont mind all the cold callers, dont give up.. it will be worth it but give yourself time, good luck

Thankyou! I understand it takes a long time to have a real client base, I didn't expect one for a few years, but I think it's just not even having done one client since I started up, including friends/family etc gets me down xx

Chin up! times are hard out there at the mo. Things will pick up for you im sure.
I personally would like to see some pics of your work before thinking of booking. I dont mean take pics from the internet of different treatments, but actual pics of your treatments and maybe a gallery page might help?
Keep with it - things can (and will) get better. Best wishes for the future.

Ok I have had a look on your website and this is what jumps out to me.
Firstly your telephone number needs to be much more prominent instead of in tiny font at the top right hand corner of the page. Its actually quite difficult to see.
I think your font needs to be bigger.
The picture of the blue toes is not the most appealing and I'm sorry but that would put me off a little. Please don't think I'm being mean,I've shown a couple of the girls here and we all agree.
A lot more pictures of treatments, befores and afters, advertising pictures from CND shellac etc are needed to brighten the whole page up.
On the eyebrow treatment section there are some grammatical mistakes that need rectifying.
Lastly a few weeks is nothing when starting a business. It takes a very, very long time to get well and truly established. Particularly when mobile as you don't have passing trade. Have you got car magnets advertising your business?
Keep at it and expect a minimum of 6 months before you have even a small amount of regulars. Good luck

Thankyou! That's really helpful! I will go thought the website today and get all the things changed you have mentioned! It's great to here feedback of people's thoughts! :-) and yes, I know it will take a long time, but even if I had 1 spray tan a month, I'd be happy! Haha! :-) xx

when I click on the facebook tab it doesnt take me anywhere other than my own facebook, you might want to change that and also the font is different size on different pages

Sounds like your doing well so far! I have been doing my new mobile beauty therapist business for just over 2 months now. A few other things I have done are:
Write to day care centres, rest homes etc offering your services, hand and arm massages, foot and leg massages and manicures have been booked from them so far!
Write to schools and offer a gift voucher and be available for summer fairs and have a little table painting nails and doing brow waxes, little business but gets your details out there.
I offer discounts if a few friends get together and have some treatements - they are all in one place, same time, lots of treatements - I also offer pamper parties which are great! Just had a booking for a Princess Party too!
Mention to any local pubs about doing a ladies night where again you can do mini wax, nails etc!
Good Luck!!!
