Hi all,

I need a bit of help regarding pricing of treatments. I work from home, in my own little salon. Could someone let me know what you should charge roughly in the following areas; eyebrow waxing, lip waxing, chin waxing, underarm wax, bikini wax, forearm wax, full arm, half leg, full leg, back, chest.. Shape and polish, luxury manicures, luxury pedicure, gel polish, lash tinting, brow tinting, lash perming.. I know it's a lot to ask but would really appreciate being pointed in the right direction with pricing. Ialso, what other thing do you take into consideration when working out treatment prices. I'm working in a cheap ish sort of area anyways, so I know my prices won't be too expensive for the area. Look forwar to your replies! X

The way I work out my pricing is based on the hourly rate I want to earn.

I then work out how long a treatment will take me, plus product costs and that's my price.

Although I do check prices against local salons to see how I compare and make sure I'm not too far off, I charge what I think I'm worth.

Bear in mind you will insurance, electricity, consumables etc to pay so add a bit extra on top for these.

This isn't shameless promotion (yes, really!) but if you have a look here (http://www.verveprint.co.uk/beautyprintdesign.htm)- there's a list of pricelists, have a mooch through and you'll see what other people are charging for similar services.

It's important that you set your prices at a decent level from the moment you start

If I want to bring home £20/hr, I need to bring in £30/hr before tax. So 30.00/12 = £2.50 for every five minutes a client is with you.

All costs, rent, consumables, marketing, etc = 20k year = 86p/five minutes (based on 48 weeks at 40 hours)

Product cost = £5/treatment.

30 minutes to perform the treatment = £3.36 x 6 = £20.16 for time & costs + £5 product = £25.16

All the above are massively oversimplified for easy numbers.

If you're happy enough with £6.08 and have outgoings of 10k/year then you could charge £10.62 for the same appointment. I say this because I hear of people charging £8 for shellac. If you're happy enough with £6.08 (or less), you should just be employed :)
