View Full Version : Nail tech training and work experience
hi all, i'm qualified in beauty L2 and i'm going on to study nail technology and reflexology, just wondering if there are any salon based therapists near caerphilly or merthyr willing to give me a work experience placement for the next year. It's a real shame that buisnesses are not willing to give anyone a chance to gain experience, thanks

It is a shame but unfortunately, understandable. Once bitten twice shy, as they say.
Many think their road to success starts by working in a salon until the clients get to know them, and then they leave and try to take the salon client's with them. To most without business ethics (and sadly that is MOST) this method of getting started seems perfectly acceptable to them.
We who have established businesses that we have built through our own hard effort and without stealing others businesses ... Don't like being treated as a stepping stone and don't care to have our salon clients approached by the ones to whom we have given a helping hand.
I agree it makes getting started very difficult for those who are genuine hard workers just wanting a chance.
yes i can understand that concept of not wanting clients stolen and yes it is unfortunate for us trying to get some experience, fingers crossed i will find somebody willing soon:biggrin:

The facts are that though they try .. the clients always remain with the salon so it is stupid and just closes the door between the tech who chances it and the salon owner. Stupid stupid!! Always leave on the best note and the door will be open to you if you should not succeed on your own. Very good advice.
