I have pics of me when my little sister was born, I was 9, I have very wavy frizzy hair (but its under control now!) and it was cut really short and looks like a pathetic attempt at an afro, I had this disgusting stretchy button-up mini skirt on that was showing my knickers and a really short top which showed all my belly off (mind you, it wasnt covered in stretch marks then) and shiny black wedges. Those pictures make me cringe so much!! I know I was young but theres no excuse for being that tasteless!!! x x x

I have to admit to a bad perm and some REALLY bad glasses (that could compete with Deidre Barlow!)
Ohh and of course a flouresent shell suit!

Sassy Hassy
19-10-05, 12:57 PM
Oh god glasses, I've had to wear them since I was eight and I had those awful national health ones in blue with the curly ends - I've never recovered from having to wear those, the indignity!

holliejayne
19-10-05, 01:17 PM
I lied at the optician cos I wanted glasses so badly (god knows why???) and I made out that I couldnt see all the numbers and letters. I got some pink deidre style glasses, I actually quite liked them! They're still quite funny to put on now when im bored or p****d. x x

Back in the eighties I used to go out with a punk who had a moweekan (don`t think thats how its spelt) - he would dye it a different colour all the time

During this time I was a GOTH (gothic punk) cringe!!!!:smack:

I`d dress all in black, with big black lines sweeping out from the corners of my eyes and crimp my hair then back comb it all up and spray it with "hard Rock" hairspray.

My mum was at her wits en - always telling me
"its such a shame - you could make yourself look so much nicer":smack:

Looking back she was sooooooooooo right - but I thought I looked the Puppies Nads!!

I had to laugh recently when one of the kids on corra became a Goth LoL.

Well in the early eighties I was sporting a black spikey hair do lol. My fave clothes were my black 3/4 length leggings, black patent laced shoes, a long white shirt with thick black leather studded belt round my waist, massive hoop earrings, and of course lots of black make-up and a beret on my head lmao

My Mum takes great delight in dragging out a pic of me when I was about 13/14 - blue, jellybean shoes, white leggings with big blue spots all over, a baggy american style sweatshirt (you know the kind with a big number on the front), dangly Pat Butcher earrings, a thick layer of baby blue eyeshadow and a spike hair cut! Hey, I was looking FINE!

Ok, puffball skirts ROCK, I love them! And skinny jeans too only my legs aren't quite stick thin enough for them to look good!

90's fashion has to be the worst. I had the pleasure of being a teen throughout the 90's where all us girls dressed like the Spice Girls *pukes*. Those awful platform boots! We all used to have the Buffalo ones in our dance classes lol. I remember the bright coloured addidas, I had a bright blue pair with orange stripes down the sides, lush. And Geri Halliwell has a lot to answer for with her union jack dress, the fashion went union jack crazy!!

Have to say I adore 60's fashion! I'm so happy it's back in at the moment!!

Thank god for Vogue & Glamour *hugs magazines*

But then I've always been a lil fashionista deep down inside! :wink2:

Layla, you'd look fab in anything. All I can say is thank god my puffball was pink, cos if it was red I'd have looked like a tomato on sticks. Too much puff and not enough ball as the actress said to the bishop!

Lol!! Dya still have any of your 'old' clothes. I wish my mum had kept hers!! She's got some of her 'rocker' clothes like her motorbike leathers which I wear when I'm perched on the back of my mates motorbike! I'd love to dress in proper 60's and 80's clothes lol. There was some cool crazes there! The whole leggings look is back, except you wear a mini denim skirt over the top. Looks quite cool, my friend wears that look and it's so funky.
My bf bought be a GOOOORGEOUS dark green woolen pleated mini skirt last week, very 60's style, I've been wearing it with my funky monochrome stripe top lol, I look like I've walked off the set of Austin Powers!!!

I rarely keep clothes that haven't been worn for a few years. I do still have all my business suits from when I had a proper job :D , don't know why as they are a size 10 and I can't see me ever getting into them again, bit of nostalgia I guess, and reminds me of how much I love the job I have!

my mum brought a pair of the platform spice girl trainers, omg, noone wanted to be seen out with her when she wore them, they were nasty, and made worse by the fact she is 18st only 4ft 9 and was nearly 50 (and i dont mean a good looking 50)

im gona have nightmares now

I remember going around in the 'bay city rollers' clothes, trousers that looked like they had an arguement with your ankles in tartan . LMAO with turn ups:eek: platform boots and a leather jacket - dear lord did I really wear that!!

I did love it when the platforms came back again I always felt so tall!! lol

When I was a teenager the ra ra skirt as short as anything with knee high socks - had the legs then!

Oh the worse thing ever has got to be the skirt/trousers begins with a 'c' in bright purple with pleats and I had the hair short at the front long at the back and permed - very very bad.

I have been a punk, gothic, modette, skinhead, scootergirl and all those clothes are another story.

Take care xx

I have a wicked photo of me in 1991 when i was 13. I had a freaky hairdo, it was cropped real short one side and longer the other, really awful! To top it off i always wore mega baggy jeans, and i mean like a size 20 on me when i was like a size 10, so i could pull them real tight with a belt round the middle and they looked really loose and baggy. Thought i looked the bees knees! Really cringe-worthy!!!!

Well until I hit 30 you could say my whole life was one fashion disaster after the other!
As a kid my mom always dressed us the same...in knitted dresses...yes come sun or snow I wore dresses that were knitted or crocheted...and I was a tom-boy!
Kind of rebelled against that when I hit 13. My folks wouldnt but me 'block' shoes & loon pants so I took a pair of leopard skin trousers, took them in so tight that they split every time I wore them, found my dads old car-coat and discovered punk!
From there on I must have made every fashion faux pas there has been.
I still have my some late 70's/early 80's gear in a case...I get it out every now and then just to wonder at how tiny I was...oh and what bloody nutcase I must have been to have worn any of it! :o

OMG Fashion statements of the past............
Oh yes I made mine.......1972..... Hot Pants suit.... white PC lace up boots..... oh yes I was the girl that did all this lol......over knee socks.......Platforms.....Mini skirts that looked like pelmets well more material on a pelmet then in my skirts.
My Nan said with clothes like that I should be on the street corner and a Mum that made all my clothes and helped me to get that latest to die for look on a shoestring budget.....and then we both had to face the wrath of my Nan.... Oh happy days lol
Did the coulotts thingy too, trousers that looked like a skirt....
Ra-ra skirts oh yes teamed with a boob tube lol and 4 inch stilettoes, how I pushed Faye in her buggy I will never know lol..........
Leggins and legwarmers Oh yes.. absolutly..including the tight permed hair lol....and when I look at fashion today I just wished I had kept all those clothes..... and my figure with it lol.....

So now you all know my darkests fashion secrets and the first to blab will get the wrath of a curly perm and leg warmers lol...........and will I show you piccies......... noooooooooo chance I have a reputation to uphold.......

At age eleven I was sick of my straight flat hair and thought I would look good with a perm to put some wave in it. I told my mom like greg Brady from the Brady Bunch TV show. The one episode she watched was the one where he had a frilly Afro curl and thats what I got. God did I get teased....
