Mend a crack in the stress area at the side wall? I was probably taught this when trainig but as the training was not very good I have to ask again. Do you have to saok off the nail. Or can you simply file it down, blend and then fill? I use gel.

File a 'v' into where the crack is, ensure that the remaining product is sealed to the nail and fill in the crack. Hey presto! No need to soak off.

If there is lifting sorrounding the crack area it's probably better filing straight down than a V. I think you should only soak if it is a large problem, that would be more time consuming to repair than to soak.

This is all basic stuff I know, but how exactly do I file a v in to the nail?
