The Geek

In this handy, yet dandy infomercial I shall take you through the various parts of your member profile and how you can add, edit, or remove certain aspects of it.
The first two images show the top portion of a profile and the bottom section of my profile.
As I am "The Geek" as well as a Premium Geek, there are some options that will appear here that may not be available to you.

http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/bottomprofile_thumb.jpg (http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=1406)
This tutorial is assuming that you are registered and logged in (otherwise you wouldnt even see the Quick Links menu).
A picture is worth 1,000 words
http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/profilepictures_thumb.jpg (http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/profilepictures.jpg)
First off we have the avatar highlighted on the left. This is the picture that appears on all of your posts and can be edited by clicking Quick Links then Edit Avatar. From there you can choose to upload your own picture (there are size restrictions of 70x70 pixels though), you can upload your avatar from a web address, or you can choose one from the gallery (there is well over 100 in there).
The picture to the right is your profile picture. This option is available for Premium Geeks and allows you to put a larger picture within your profile for others to view. You can modify your profile picture by clicking Quick Links, then User Control Panel then Edit Profile Picture.
Your name, title and rank (but no serial number)
http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/nametitlerankrep_thumb.jpg (http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/nametitlerankrep.jpg)
This attachment highlights your User Name, Title, Rank, and Reputation. All of these options accompany your posts as well as your Avatar.
Your User Name is the name you log in with and is pretty much set in stone. The title underneath your User Name is a title that is based on the amount of posts that you make. Premium Geeks can change their title to whatever suits their whim (and within bounds) by clicking Quick Links followed by Edit Profile. There you will see an option to use a custom title.
Your reputation is based on your fellow geeks ratings of you and your posts. The higher your reputation, the more little green blips appear. You can see your current reputation by hovering your mouse above the blip. It takes quite awhile to actually build up your reputation score.
You can disable your reputation by clicking Quick Links, then Edit Options... However... why bother?
Big buddy you got your ears on?
http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/buddynignore_thumb.jpg (http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/buddynignore.jpg)
Your buddy list is a pop up window that gives you easy access to your 'buddies' on the site. You can open your buddy list by clicking Quick Links then Open Buddy list. This gives you an easy way to Private Message your friends and to tell if they are on the site.
The Ignore option will cause the users posts to be hidden in a thread. You will still see where they posted and have the option to read the post, but by default the post will be hidden.
Forum Info
http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/foruminfo_thumb.jpg (http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/foruminfo.jpg)
Here you can get various information on the user (i.e. when they joined, how many posts they have made) you can also find all of the posts from the user, or just the threads that they have started. This makes it easy to find those posts you are looking for.
Referrals are how many people signed up and put you in as a referral. This doesn’t serve too much of a purpose right now... but I may tie it into some promotion later.
Contact info
http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/contactinfo_thumb.jpg (http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/contactinfo.jpg)
The contact info section displays the users web page (if set), a link to send them an email (if applicable), and a link to send the user a private message.
You can set these options in your profile by clicking Quick Links and then Edit Options.
Phew this post is getting long.
Additional Info and Group Memberships
http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/groupmemberships_thumb.jpg (http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/groupmemberships.jpg)
This section displays your birth date, location, interests, occupation, and a mini bio that can be set by clicking Quick Links and then Edit Options. The Group Membership isn’t really active right now as I haven’t formed any groups.
The Big Bio
http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/biostart_thumb.jpg (http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/biostart.jpg)
This option is available for Premium Geeks. Here you can have a massive bio complete with formatting and even smiles.
Editing Big Bio
http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/endofbio_thumb.jpg (http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/endofbio.jpg)
Here you will see the edit button next to each section of the bio that will allow you to edit or delete that section of your Big Bio. You are the only one that will see this option.
FINALLY!
Signing off
http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/sig_852054_thumb.jpg (http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/files/1/sig_852054.jpg)
Here your signature is displayed. Your signature can appear at the bottom of each of your posts and saves you retyping 'The Geek' at the end of each post you make. Updating your signature updates all of your posts that have your signature in. You can edit your signature by clicking Quick Links then Edit Signature.
Whelp... that’s it for me. Think I covered everything.
