£3000 minimum order for Dermalogica! Pick me up from off the floor!
I need to find a facial product range too. In my research I'll bear you in mind...! How about Deb379, think she does beauty too and might be able to help?! Cool stuff about the bio gels. xx |

Hi Amb
Try having a look through Babtac's forum (http://www.babtac.com/public/index.asp) as there are often debates going on there as to which are the best facial ranges in terms of start-up costs/quality of range etc. You may pick up some ideas there which could help hopefully as there are loads of beauty therapists posting there? It's a bit of a nightmare scrolling through their board as it isn't set up particularly well (no search facility it seems) but you get there eventually |

Take a look at Nimue.
A most fantastic range....... Refreshing in our eyes. We looked at Dermalogica and all the veteran brands and thought it was time for a new range. Nimue is just what we were looking for. Most Salons have Dermalogica, Clarins, Decleor... Let them fight over the prices. Offer something different, something that works as well as a 'fell good' factor. You'll need an opening order with most (all I think) suppliers, but Nimue could be flexible if you asked them. Worst they could say is, No..... |

I use Environ on myself and it is great - very much along the same lines as Nimue I imagine. More towards the medical rather than the aromatherapy pampering side if that makes sense.
I am not a beauty therapist so could only get what was available to me through my local beauty salon and none of them use Nimue or I woud have jumped at the chance to try it. |

Hi Amb,
I will also hopefully be qualifying in July and so I am looking for a skincare range too. Have you looked at the Ellisons website? http://www.ellisons.co.uk/ Go to the beauty buyers guide, online catalogue. They have their own skincare range, Precious Professional. There is no minimum order and you can also retail. I have not tried it myself yet, although someone from college has and really likes the range. |

We did a lot of research too, Dermalogica got the heave ho straight away, why would I want to use a product that 50% of the salons use in my area - offer something different, get your marketing right and give people a reason why they should switch salons and come to you. Someone on this site recommended Nimue to me and I had an in-salon demo .. the packaging alone sold it to me (I love classy packaging), but the products sell themselves. Ive been using them for a week and someone said I looked so well and had I had a chemical peel because my skin looked so fresh and vibrant. Downside is like all "professional " ranges they have a minimum order of about £1000 (or thereabouts) but this does include EVERYTHING you need, including a lot of retail products, free training, monthly salon visits, marketing advice, and more importantly a product that your clients will love and come back for more treatments. However I think they are trying to keep it exclusive to salons, so if you are mobile or home based they may not sell to you, but if you don't ask you don't get! For a really good debate that's been going on for ages look at the Babtac forum http://www.babtac.com/public/index.asp title is "Decleor or any facial skincare range", it's at the top of the forum page at the moment. It's long winded but read it all as there is loads of info. HTH |
