Redface Hi, I'm new at this - 16-07-06, 12:45 AM

Hi, I'm a new nail tech (just got my certification for sculpted gel enhancements with Amoresse). I'm from Alberta Canada. . I've been fortunately quite busy with it and love it.

I've been learning a lot from the posts on thenailgeek and think it's a great source of information for all of us.

Thanks, just wanted to introduce myself - I have no idea if I'm doing this right. We'll see.

I don't know if I can understand how to use this, I'm trying although a little confused. Anyway, yes it is Amore. I'd like to know what you think of it and why you don't use it anymore?

What do you use? I noticed you are from Edmonton, I'm only 40 minutes South in Wetaskiwin. Not sure if I'm fully satisfied with it, but was trained with it and don't know what else to try first. Any suggestions?

I was initialy trained with Star Nails.I did not have any intention to use it ,and I was on the quest to find a good product that will satisfy my needs and work well on my clients. My initial course was just a beginig and after that I took every possible course that different companies offered.I prety much tried all the products(LCN,INT,Amore,Brisa,Nailbasics,IBD and list goes on).You are new to this industry and your learning is just begining.Follow your product instructions and try it for at least six months.Work on your prep and application, take some one on one classes and you will see how it goes.
Weataskiwin is not far away from Edmonton and you can come some time for a visit.
BTW I use Akzentz gels and acrylic

I actually just received the "try me kit" from Gaylene from Saint Albert and have tried it on myself and a friend. I like it, but it does have a little different consistency of course. I plan on sticking with Amore until I feel quite confident in my work or until my supplies run low. Is Akzentz your favorite?

Would you mind answering a question for me? With the Akzentz gel, the Natural gel is quite thick, I can't seem to get it to level? What is the proper technique for this gel? I find the Trilite easier, but yet a little thin, it runs easily.

Natural gels are semi-self leveling .You will be able to do all five fingers and it will slightly level itself ,but it will not flood your cuticles and sidewalls.Pick up your Natural gel from jar and "dump" or "unload" your gel from the brush right above your white. With a very light pressure glide your gel toward your cuticle area (not touching it)and sidewalls.Try to stay on the top of your gel,not digging in,you will create bumpy ,uneven nail.Key is to have a very light touch with Natural gels.If I am doing clear rebalance I almost never have to finish file.Natural gels ,when cured are very shiney, hence no top coat needed.

Hi Val

Welcome, you will be amazed at the wealth and quality of information on this forum. I'm glad to see another Canadian on board!!!!

I have mainly been using Amore gels but this spring (with Lana's support) I added some Akzentz gels. I still use the Amore bonder and it works very well with this system, I just make sure I cure it for 2 minutes. The Akzentz natural gels are really nice and easy to work with. I find them very similar to the Amore scult & shine in consistency. The cool and warm pinks are very nice, I tend to mix these two gels together to get a color that everyone can use. The Akzentz white builder gel is awesome. I like it for the fact that it is the only white you really even need!! I found that with Amore I had to use the White gel on those who needed to be sculpted over forms and then the ultra for fills. I like to keep things simple, simple, simple so therefore the Akzentz White Builder is the answer. I still have a ton of both Amore White gels to use up b4 I totally switch over to Akzentz white builder ( probably a years worth lol!!!) .

Now I can't say enough about the Akzentz top gloss. It has an incredible longlasting shine. The sample pack only comes with the pink gloss top (which is nice) but the regular gloss top is unbeatable. I do not tlike the Amore top gloss and I never have!!

Lana is very helpful and is incredubly knowledgeable about gels in general. You are lucky to live so close to her. Take her up on her offer to stop in, I'm sure you will be impressed!!!
