The search facility is dependant on two things. The first is the forum software that is used to write it. It depends how capable the search function is in finding particular terms such as the ones you've mentioned, ie, "NSI" and "VAT". I cannot comment on how good the software is in this regard, and whether or not Sam can do anything to improve on it.
The second thing to consider, and this is very important to every user of this forum, is the title that you give to any thread that you yourself start. Sam has mentioned this many times over the past year or so because lots of people arent bothering to name their threads descriptively. Titles such as "How do I?", "At my wits ends" and "Finally got it right" are useless when it comes to the search function. If your thread is about gel nails lifting, name your thread along the lines of "Problems with Gel nails lifting". If you want to find out how to take better nails photos, "I just cant do it" wont cut the mustard when it comes to someone else searching for your info, much better to have a thread title like "Improving my photo techniques" or "taking better photographs". Each geek can improve the search facility by complying with the above. In the meantime, try varying your search. For example, I did a search for "Nail Systems International" and I got a result for NSI immediately. HTH |

Well said Seanny! - the one thing that annoys me is having no idea what the thread is actually about when looking at the title.
Hopefully the penny will drop now but i dont think so some how. |

Thanks, the actual post was titled "NSI - VAT free day" so I really thought NSI and VAT should infact cut the mustard lol.
I found the post through my e-mail as I had recieved one when someone else posted in it. |

Sorted. I switched awhile ago to full text searches which unknown to me limited search words to 4 characters in length.
Had to restart the server and rebuild indexes. Thats why (if anyone is wondering) the site suddenly cut out and is running like a bag of turd. It should all be rebuilt in the next half hour or so |
