I started off with a Hara Starter Kit from Aston and Fincher. It had a wax heater, pre wax cleanser, post wax soothing lotion, tub of wax, spatulas and strips. I think it cost about £40.
I still use the heater, although I have tried different waxes. My clients really like the Lavender Creme wax that I am using at the moment. HTH's. Good luck with the course hun. ![]() |

When it comes to pot and spatula waxing, I love and still use the Hive 1000cc heaters - they come with a removable inner bucket and "scraper bar" that you can use for hard or strip waxes. The only downside is that plastic wax tubs melt if you put them straight into the heater, so unless your wax comes in a metal tin you will need to decant it into the bucket first. The smaller 500cc version can take plastic pots directly, and might be a better (and less messy) choice to start with.
Hive do a few good value starter packages (inlcuding a student kit) that include waxes, strips, spatulas and lotions. Ellisons don't seem to have the Hive kits in their latest catalogue, but you can see them at Welcome to Hive of Beauty Their waxes and lotions are good value and do the job well. It's easy to get bamboozled by all the different choices, but whatever range you go with, whilst learning I would recommend sticking with a cream style wax (creme waxes tend to melt at a lower temperature and are generally suitable for most skin types), a basic pre-wax lotion, and a basic post-wax soothing lotion. Do try both paper and muslin strips to see which you get on with better (my preference is paper). |

With smaller heaters you can usually just put the whole pot in without having to decant your wax first. You can use any make of wax from any company in any heater, providing the pot fits - most wax tubs come in a standard size that will fit the heaters made by other companies. |
