I am 58 years old and have really good skin for my age I think. I have no deep lines or wrinkles yet on my face or under my eyes, but of course my skin does not look like it did when I was 30! I do take care of it and moisturise daily morning and night. At the moment I am using the Academie de Beauté range which I love for the skin. I also use Nimue for cleansing and moisturising .... I alternate the 2 ranges every few months or so.

I find that sometimes when I apply pancake foundation (which I try to do lightly and with minimal product) that my skin actually looks older than it does without make up!! But I like to wear a bit of foundation to smooth out the tone of the skin.

I find that my eyes too look older and that any shadow accentuates the fine lines that I thought I didn't have!! They too look better to me without any shadow and only mascara.

My question is --- Is there a make up range that is particularly recommended for older skin so that once it is applied, it looks more youthful instead of actually accentuating the agedness of it?? At the moment I use Channel (liquid) or YSL (pancake).

What advice would you give me?

I went to see a lady on the Mac cosmetics counter in Selfridges a while ago about a very similar thing, she applied foundation and showed me how to do this with a brush and to use minimal powder as it does make any creases look worse.
Hopefully one of our Beauty therapists can explain better.

I'd love to have a demo. I've never tried a mineral range but i have heard they are all the rage now. I normally never use face powder because of the 'accentuating the lines' thing and also it is normally quite warm here and I have visions of powder going all caked and horrid in the humidity ... but would love to try it and have a test drive. . thank you. I'm open to all suggestions.

Hi ya geeg , i would like to suggest estee lauder. Estee lauder do stock a wide range of products which are just fab for the skin ! they sell alot of make-up and skin care - best thing is the consultants will get you to sit down and try the products , then at least you have had the chance to try them out. They will even give you samples to take away. I know it sounds odd estee lauder BUT theyr very good.

dermalogica do a lovely range of foundation and tinted moisturisers if i use the tinted moist i use a bit of loose powder over it or some mac mineralize gives a nice finish

Thank you. I actually used Dermalogica products for years and there is no denying the skin care range is good and effective if a little HUGE. It all confused me in the end and I have to say that for me the tinted moisturiser and make up was not inspiring.

I CAN try Este Lauder here in Spain at good old El Corte Inglais in Alicante so that will be a definite .. thank you again. I will definitely make that one call ... should be fun too.

Actually, NO.

minerals are different because you apply it by buffing it into the skin with the kabuki brush. its strange stuff because you think 'how can this actually give cover?' but when you rub it onto your hand it glides on like a cream.

It doesnt really hide but accentuates. Its a bit of a problem if you have really dry flakey skin, but as your skin looks really good you may find it lovely & light to use.

It doesnt look like your wearing make-up at all. Almost like giving you a perfect skin. In id bare escentuals they have accentuating products to give that dewy appearence.

The bare escentuals range is good I have used it for the last 3 years . You acn have it as light or as heavy as you like and it definitely evens out skin tone. It takes a little getting used to but is worth persevering.
