My boss (also my cousin) came in to work tonight and told me she had a proposition to put to me!
Ok i said, we sat down and she proceeds to tell me shes cutting her hours down (she has a bad back thats gone on her again and isnt getting any better) so i said without thinking "dont worry i'll keep things going best i can" and she said "i know you will but i want to make you salon manager, you can take over the running of the business, you know how to cash up, do the books, order stock, do the banking etc"

Well i was gobsmacked but accepted straight away, now im wondering if im cut out for it, dont know why im doubting my self!

The place where she goes for her back treatment also has a hairdressers and salon attached and the salon is vacant and kitted out with top of the range equipment, saunas, sunbeds, nail bars and its right on her doorstep, she will work for someone (The guy who owns it all and sorts her back) 18 hours a week, 6 thursday, 6 friday & 6 saturday and that will be her lot unless shes desperatley needed to take some pressure of me.

My question is, do i go for it? (i know i said yes but) can i really do all the work on my own wed, thur, fri, sat or will it be taking on too much?

Also need to sort reception out as well as we did that between us during treatments etc

Is your cousin going to work in this salon where her back is done - if so then how many of the existing clients will she take there.

Is there any extra money in it for you?

Have you discussed with your cousin about setting someone else on?

Have you discussed with your cousin about setting someone else on? yes we have discussed it briefly but at this moment in time with the going beauty therapist wage it wouldnt work (its only a small salon in a village)

Way to go girl, i dont see why you cant do it and if you get stuck she is family so you wont feel bad asking and double checking, you do need to find out about taking someone else on and i hope your getting a serious wage rise, good luck with it all i wish you all the best
