Geekmolians - A quick rundown of what they are and what you can do with them! -
13-02-07, 09:00 PM
You’ve seen the word loads of times (Geekmolians) but what the heck are they and what can you do with them? How to find the Geekmolian Shop Click on Stuff, the first button down will take you to the Geekmolian Shop, click on that and you’ll enter the vbPlaza. Gaining Geekmolians You receive Geekmolians (aka points) for starting new threads, replying to posts, when you receive reputation, when you refer new members to the site and also when you subscribe as a Premium Geek. No need to start posting threads/replies willy nilly in order to get shed-loads of points though, you get virtually none for posts in Chitchat and a few more for posting in The Nail Geek and The Skin Geek forums, the amount you receive isn’t huge so when you get them the best place to put them is in the Geekmolian Bank. The best way to earn lots of points is by taking part in the Weekly Lotteries and by entering Geeky competitions such as nailart competitions, keep your eyes peeled and join in, you've got to be in it to win it ![]() The Geekmolian Bank It works like a ‘real-life’ bank (kind of lol) by giving you interest every 2 days for saving your points; however, unlike a real bank it doesn’t offer overdrafts or loans ![]() You can withdraw your saved points to buy gifts, change your username colour and other fun stuff, but more about that later. The initial page you see shows your current points total, the amount of points you have saved in the bank, the next date that interest will be paid and it also has a link (Enter the Bank) so you can go directly to the bank. Below this on the left is a list of the 10 Richest Users, if you click the link (10 Richest Users) you can see a bigger listing of those Geeks who have the most points. On the right is a list of the Most Sold items, again, click on the link (Most Sold) and you’ll see a bigger listing of the items that are sold most. Below this you’ll see your User History, it lists the last 5 items that you’ve either bought or have been gifted to you. If you click on the link (User History) you’ll be able to look back at all of your history from changing your username colour and banking points to buying gifts. The most popular items Click on Points Options, this is where you can bank points, donate points, thieve points and buy your Geekmolian lottery tickets. The first two speak for themselves… the thieving option is also straightforward, however there is a penalty to pay for trying to steal points off other Geeks, whether you’re successful or not you will lose some of your rep points, thieves beware! Buying lottery tickets… you have a choice of either the Weekly CheapO or the Weekly Lottery. The Weekly CheapO is 100 points per ticket with the winner receiving a guaranteed 1000 points. The Weekly Lottery is 1000 points per ticket and the winners pot increases as more people enter. You can see a list of previous winners by clicking here. Username Options and Usertitle Options are popular choices, they allow you to change the colour of your name and also the font, you can also add a shadowed effect or a glowing effect, you can make your name italicised and also bold font. When choosing to change the colour and/or font please remember to use the exact colour or font wording, ComicSans won’t work, it would have to be Comic Sans MS. The same goes for coloured usernames/titles, Dark orchid won’t work, it would have to be DarkOrchid, and so on. Now that you’ve jazzed up your username you might want to spend some of your points on gifting one of your Geeky friends, to do this scroll down to the bottom of the vbPlaza page and click on Misc Options. You’ll see a few tabs, click on Give Gifts (after you’ve withdrawn the correct amount of points) and choose the gift you’d like to give, where it asks if you want to make the gift private leave it as NO unless you don’t want it to show up under the recipients username in their posts, type in the correct username for whoever you’re giving the gift to, there’s also space for you to write a personal message. The same applies to Awareness Ribbons, you can give these to yourself to show your support of different causes, but if you want everyone else to see your ribbon under your username then make sure you leave the 'private gift' bit as a NO. That’s the main stuff covered, I’ll leave you to discover the rest yourselves ![]() |
