I have removed the reputation system from salongeek.com as I simply can not be asked to deal with the constant drivel from the handful of people that abuse the system and those whose life seems utterly unlivable because someone gave them a negative reputation point.

Pretty bad considering that I manage to get around dealing with 90% of the crap thanks to the moderator team... how frustrated have those guys got to be?

That is such a shame that a handful of people can ruin something that lets you show people how you appreciate them and their advice.
They should be ashamed of themselves for acting like children

I think that as long as people had annonymity with the rep system, especially neg, then I am glad that it is no longer available. It was forever cropping up and causing problems and very recently has become quite unpleasant for some. I am glad it has gone but am also sorry that the system was abused in such an unkind way.

We can still thank peeps for enlightening, helpful and constructive posts by sending pms and pagers.

It's unfortunate that the immaturity of a few, ruin it for the rest.
I can certainly understand why you would want to be rid of it, in the face of so much hassle and negativity.

I guess we'll have to go back to the old fashioned way of "thank you's" which is just fine.

But I will miss getting a giggle out of the "Victoria wishes he/she could speak whale" (still not sure what that means )

I think the minority who were abusing the system should have been the ones penalised.

I think it is really pathetic when people make an issue out of receiving neg reps. In any case they are usually the ones who are most likely to dish them out too!

BRILLIANTLY put, and if this saves time and tempers with the mods, then all to the good.

It was never the receiving rep that bothered me.............it was the intent behind it. I think it'll be great that people can now give their views on a subject freely without fear of the very small gang mentality that developed on and off.

Also, I think that rep was often used by some to suck up to others. I know that there was a geek who was in the top 10 at one time but I can honestly say, hand on heart that in the several years that I've been on here, I've never ever know them to be active..............so how did that happen?

Although it's lovely when I get loads of pos rep, I'm glad to see the back of it really. xxx

Well Victoria I was speaking whale too (Finding Nemo BTW) and I'm gutted that it has gone . I enjoyed receiving, giving etc and did sign my name to negs as I think it only fair.

However I have seen our Mods nearly go demented the last week or so for dealing with what I can only describe as BMW's and unfortunatley none were pre teens or even teens.

Maybe TBQ is right - more will feel they can post without cliquie gang-ups but I think there are some on here that should know that although they act sweetness and light, we have seen the neg reps and comments that they have dished out by the shed loads and honestly, you must think us totally stupid if you don't realise that we know who you are and what has been going on (you is referred to as no one in particular)

Sigh.... I'm off to enjoy the weekend. Mods - I suggest you all do the same and for those who want to rep me but can't, Vurve Cliquot never goes unthanked or undrunk!!
