Depends on what you are looking for.

My pal did a three year course in Glasgow and can do any kind of make-up you could mention, even make prosthetics and fake blood etc. to models at a fashion shoot or magazine, brides, you name it.

A course on just bridal etc should not take long perhaps a year part time max.

I did it at college and learnt a lot in one year then its just a matter of practice, practice, practice.

My training was part of my beauty therapy course and my pal's was kind of intensive. I am sure they did offer short courses from what I remember so there must be some colleges further south who offer the same thing.

I know what you mean, because you dont want to pay for a course and then find out when its too late that its not the one for you.

All I could advise is that you find out as much about the courses, when you find some, as you can. Maybe you could visit the colleges or wherever and see what they do first hand.

It is an interesting module as you can completely change how someone looks.

A friend of mine recently did a short course, through her job, on how to conceal scarring etc, she is kindly going to show me how to do it, when she has time, and how use the special concealers etc. Cant wait.

Good luck.

Hi Hun,
I am booked on Cosmetic Make up with NSI, just a one day course, but from that I will probably do more courses. I am doing it really just for Bridal make up, and with it I will get a certificate, that is if I pass, they do not guarantee that you will pass and so that I am insured. So many are out there doing Bridal make up, and have not done any courses, and are running without any insurance etc. Good luck in whatever you do. Lotsa luv x

I have just finished a 16 week course covering day evening and special occasion through college (bt9) along side my NVQ beauty course, it has been really good but I do want to do more, I would love to do special effects etc...

good luck with your search for courses, let us know what you decide on

Hi there,
I did an intensive week for bridal hair and makeup and found it very rewarding-I think if you have an eye for things and are a bit creative short courses are a good idea.Ive been doing it for 2 years and love it!!! the day i passed, i went out that night on my first trial-i am a bit 'in at the deep end' when it comes to learning but find it works for me!!
good luck
