Microdermabrasion Units - 26-04-08, 10:44 PM

I am currently looking into getting a microdermabrasion unit but am unsure which one to go with. I have various companies coming out to give me demonstrations over the up coming weeks but would appreciate advice from those of you who already use or have previously used them.

I am quite tempted by Crystal Clear as they also provide press packs, training in the systems & products, salon brochures with treatment details, ongoing referrals, marketing details, training manuals etc. Their products look goo also.

Two of the other local salons use Caci, so I was thinking to use something different. I know that Caci is very popular though and well known with clients.

Is it more beneficial to the business to use a more well known expensive brand than a cheaper more affordable one?

Microdermabrasion is microdermabrasion...the crystals the different companies use will all give you the same outcome if you've been properly trained....
You clients might ask if you do microdermabrasion, and use a well known brand name, because they've heard the name...but think about that for a second. Why have they heard the name? Because larger companies spend more of YOUR money on high profile advertising, rather than researching the product and the method.
In my opinion, it's better to ask a lot of questions, and go with your gut feeling. Spending more money doesn't always guarantee you a good result, and the more 'hi-teh' a machine is, the more there is to go wrong with it in my opinion. PM me if you'd like my recommendation...
Microdermabrasion is definitely something worth offering though, I love the results of it, and there's nothing quite like it. Especially if you want to help clients who have problems like stretch marks and acne scarring. It's a brilliant treatment.

Try skin focal/Novita They do a mobile machine and the companys brilliant. I used there machines but couldnt justify the finance in the end because I live in a backwards town but she allowed me to loan the machine to see what client response was like. I used to sell diamond microdermabrasion machines which were brilliant too but they went bankrupt.

All machines really use the same wands/crystals, but its worth checking the following with the company before you buy:

Are the wand heads disposable?
Can you use crystals as well as diamond tipped wands?
Are all the components out side of the machine to prevent blockages?
How quiet is the machine?
Is the machine adjustable for crystal quantity/suction etc?
If the machine breaks down will they lend you a replacement until yours is fixed?
How often do you need to change the tubes/filters?
How many facials can you get out of a bottle of crystals?

Hope this helps!

Kate

Hello,
I am quite new to this site and am realy enjoying it.
There is a new machine which is just being launched in the UK called Sapphire - it offers exfoliation with both a diamond tip and crystals. I am having a demonstration next week - will let you know what it's like. It is quite reasonably priced. Let me know if you would like any more info.

Hi,
I am also looking into getting a microdermabrasion machine for my small salon. Skin Base are running an offer where they lend you a machine for 2 weeks then you decide whether to go ahead.
The cost is the only thing that concerns me. Have others found the increase in business justifies the financial outlay.
All thoughts appreciated.
Amanda
