Help! T100 problems at tan party, - 30-04-08, 08:09 AM

I did a tan party last night & had an absolute nightmare.

I have a T100 & noticed it was a little patchy (sort of stop/starting on the tan flow) earlier this week. So, I stripped the gun (following proper instructions) & cleaned it well & went off to do this party.

Well, 1st tan was ok but 2nd was awful. Really patchy (the girl swears she had nothing on her skin that could have caused this).

Then for the 3rd tan, no tan seemed to come out at all. Then I noticed solution was dribbling out of the cap & fast as I moppe dit up more came out. I kept checking it was screwed on ok & that all seemed fine.

Then, the absolute horror! - The bottle sort of burst off the cap spilling everywhere!!

At this point I just wanted to pack up & run home but the host was really understanding & begged me to have another go! So I took some time to clean it all up, tipped out some solution (just in case I had overfilled cup).

It seemed to sort it self out then & I managed to do another 3 tans which were nice & even (although I do feel I had to turn the spray up more than I would normally so did have a bit of spattering so not ideal).

I am going to clean it all again & test it later but I have another party on Saturday & now I am really panicking & feel like I don't want to offer tanning at parties anymore as I feel so stressed out by the experience! It was really awful & I don't want to go through that again!

Please, please does anyone have any ideas on what went wrong or what the problem could be?

What a nightmare for you.. well done for keeping going and sorting your ladies out in the end.

How much solution are you putting in the cup. Even though their are a few client who may want a tan.. never be tempted to fill the cup to the top as this will cause the cup to blow off like you described. Top up your cup after each tan but only to half full. It needs air to circulate to give an optimum spray.

Do you think you may have overfilled it?

I havent had my cup explode before but I have experienced the stop/starting and nothing coming out before, I had cleaned my gun and turns out my screw where the needle goes (half way up the gun) wasnt tight enough! hubby sorted it out for me cos i'd never have thought of that! I had it the other night too where nothing came out but it was the white plastic tube inside the bottle that was not connected properly, pushed it back on tight and was ok after that. I only ever fill up to the logo on the cup too...

Dont be put off, its probably something silly that can be sorted.

Poor you but at least you got there in the end, dont be disheartned I have to go with the fact that I think it was to do with the back air flow and filling the cup up to full...it is after all a compressor.

Dont worry about Saturday, you will be fine...was it the first party as such you had done?

Thanks for you lovely support guys - I was on the verge of a panic attack this morning but am feeling more calm now!

I have to say it does sound like I put too much in the cup then. I have been tannning in my treatment room since Feb with no trouble & only putting about 1/2 a cupful & yes, you're right - after the first couple of tans I did think 'ah, I'll fill it up as I've got so many people to tan'! And, when I tipped some out it did seem to right itself.

Yes - It was my 1st party in someone elses home (I have done 4 ladies together but only at my room). I guess it's a learning curve. (Don't want to have to learn in such a hard way next time though!).

So, I cleaned it all down again this afternoon & tested it. No repeat of the leaky/exploding cap scenario so that's great.

Flow was much better but there was still a tiny bit of skipping where the tan flow stops for a split second leaving a little missed bit. Not nearly as bad as before & I could be looking over critically for problems now but ... does anyone have any ideas what I could do to rectify that?

Thanks again for all your help xxx

Make sure that the screw is tight, the one near the trigger where the needle goes through, not at the back of the gun that varies the flow. Also make sure there is no debris on the needle, etc and that the white tube that hangs down inside the bottle is pushed in tight. The bottle has to be on fairly tight but not overly tight! try these things and see if its any different?
