I have been finding with some ladies, particually more mature clients, that I am not getting a good result from leg waxing.(I use strip wax on legs and I'm only having this result with mainly older ladies with very dry skin).
There appears to be a lot of very short strong stubbly hairs left on the skin. These ladies often present with very very dry sometimes scaly skin, . I'm wondering if the hairs are breaking off at the surface because the skin is so dry, it is holding onto the hairs causing them to break off when I wax. I always give my ladies good aftercare advice, and recommend products to them, but some still choose to use inferior products that arn't moisturising the skin well enough. I get a bit annoyed, as I have to schedule in a longer apppointment time to allow time to tweeze out those short hairs, and also to remove a lot of ingrown hairs. Should I just not tweeze and remove ingrowns if they don't follow aftercare advice, or should I charge them extra for me doing this? |

Thanks.
I do apply a little bit of oil when I use hot wax on the bikini and underarm. I hadn't thought of using it on the face though? Is it good to use on brows and upper lip? I don't normally apply oil when I use strip wax on the legs though. How will this help? |

I don't apply oil on the face as the face has natural oils and it seems a bit pointless to cleanse then apply more oil. If the client was very dry then I would apply a little more oil before waxing with the non-strip wax. Applying oil under wax be it strip or non strip makes a lipid barrier between the hair and the skin and is much more comfortable for the client and would probably reselove the problems you are encounting. If you apply too much oil.. just dab off with some tissue and continue with the wax. |

Always apply a fine layer of oil on clients who's skin is dry or very cold. Do you think that the hairs are breaking or it's the next growth cycle coming through? How long are these clients leaving in between waxes and are they shaving?
If they're breaking, it could be hormones making the hair brittle. Make sure that you keep your hand close to the skin when removing the strip and not pulling it upwards. Sorry for all the questions but it helps me get to the bottom of it to help you. xxx |

In my opinion, the best wax is Perron Rigot....I use three of their waxes:- Euroblonde (no strip) for Brazilians, Esential Rose (no strip)for under arms and face and Cristal Ocean (strip wax). Yes, I run courses in all areas of waxing but I specialise in Extreme Waxing for women and men (Intimate Waxing). I'll PM you with details. You know how women with hormone problems sometimes lose their hair, or grow more hair? It's where the structure of the hair is effected by hormones and becomes either too strong or too weak. So, when the hair becomes thin, it breaks off during waxing istead of being waxed out. You'll also find that women with hormone problems can get waxed once and it never grows back.........luck of the draw xxx |
