Rolleyes Notts - Males Waxing? - 27-07-08, 05:47 PM

Hi,

first timer for facial waxing, could do with some advise .

I'm an asian male, who has been tweezing for about 1year and am happy how iv shaped them.
However never been satisfied with how clean i can get them, of course this is due to me not being a pro so therefor have built up the courage to go to one.

My question is, how regular would i need to make an appointment, what kind of things should i look out for like quality of products, and also i could use to get away with this due to long hair but have gotten it really short now so would it also be possible to wax my baby forehead hairs? Or should that always be a NO-NO .

This one would be a major thanks to whoever could help , iv been searching on the net for a good salon who can do hair styling and male waxing but it seems to be a no-go .

Anyone know of a good place or someone who i could to in Nottingham? And how much do they usually charge?

Thanks in advance to those who reply

Dear Playful Wind,

Thank God you're not asking about butt waxing with that name. I have lots of Asian male clients and I know exactly what you're talking about.

Ok, brows first. You need to get them waxed and tweezed into a manly shape, unless you WANT to look like David Gest of course . I have my own technique for mens brows but I don't live round your way so that's no help to you is it.

The important thing is to get them done every four weeks but don't touch them in between appointment. Now this will drive you mad as you'll have the black dots as I call them where the hairs are growing through. However, if you leave them, after a few appointments, they'll all be waxed/tweezed out and you won't get the black dots anymore.

As for the baby hairs around your hairline (vellus hairs), I would make sure your waxer uses non strip wax as it's gentler. This is fine to do though.

If you want, click on my site (see link below) and call me during the week and I'll talk you through what you need to ask for and what to expect. Shame you don't live nearer. xxx

couldnt of put it any better myself

great advice given there as well

im sure that there will be someone on here that is local to you. I also specialise in waxing but i am in bedfordshire.

hard wax (non strip) is definately the way to go for facial waxing so dont forget that when you are looking around.

Thought i should of had emphasized on the fact i'm asian as i know we are kinda of non-existent when it comes to these things. And also our hairs are thick and a pain! Its a curse lol....

lol @ butt waxing ! I think i have some boundaries, well hopefully i don't get too addicted .

Anyways many thanks to both of you for replying. It is a shame you aren't close to me save me a lot of hassel.
Ironically/weird i just finished studying in luton/bedford uni pity i'm no longer there lol...

You kinda got me worried about these black dots !, I'm happy with how iv shaped them myself as they still are thick but not too thick... but will the waxer have any objections with that?
And try to go with her/his own method? or will they actually listen to me?
As i know that they know best.

i certainly don't want a look with pencil line kinda eyebrows (no offensive meant to females of course).

For the vellus hairs, you say non-strip wax do you mean they will tweeze every single one ? Won't that be like a pain in the butt? For the both of us? lol...

Another thing sorry about this lol, ... Iv tried to find a good salon that does male waxing/ hair styling but no one around here does it.
So i thought try to look in different fields, iv come across a term; mobile people lol ... how do they work? i mean do i have to arrange them to come to me? or could i go to them ... ?
And how would i tell if they actually have experience in waxing? As its an independent business.

i would feel bad to just call someone out for waxing the facial area .. so i'm a bit stuck

soo sorry for the 101 questions but thanks for the replies guys and for the website link you gave me.

listen i wax loads of asian guys so i know where you are coming from.

i also have guys that will travel miles to get to me as well so if you have no luck then give me a call and we arrange something to suit you. i work to suit my client so evenings are not a problem.

when we say non strip (hard) wax we mean that we do not use a strip to remove it. its is applied in a similar way but removed without a strip and dont worry it doesnt mean that each hair is removed one by one.

some mobile waxers will have a minimum charge however this still may be cheaper than having to travel.

ask the therapist when you call them, what experience they have and also if they have insurance and most importantly what waz they use. all therapists that are fully qualified will have insurance so dont worry you will be in safe hands.

dont worry about asking questions thats what we are here for.

good luck in finding a waxer and im here if you need me!!!
