Tanning Injections -
22-08-08, 01:38 PM
I have recently just started a course on these tanning injections. Now i am confused, I have some people telling me to do them every other day and some people saying to do them once a week. I am combining this with twice a week on the sunbeds. I'm really looking forward to the results. I just wanted to speak to somebody else who is doing them, to see when i will start seeing a difference. Eager i know, I only jabbed myself yesterday. Please get in touch.....

Strewth!
Have you been trained in how to administer an injection safely? There are all manner of risks associated with this - air embolism, infection, broken needle.... |

I can't describe how shocked I am at reading this thread...I can't believe this kind of thing is widely available. Our local tanning salon had a guy in at the weekend who has used these injections...apparently he got it through one of his friends who is in the army. I don't know how much truth is in his claims but apparently, the soldiers who go out into Afghanistan use them so they 'blend' in with the locals when they have their heads covered with the shemagh

To anyone considering (or even taking) one of the melanotan peptides, you really should SLOW DOWN and inform yourself to quite a high degree (ie: there are videos on YouTube). It is true that the peptides will produce melanin in the skin (thereby allowing a person who ordinarily wouldn't tan to do so) but using them is something that should NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. The peptides have been clinically shown to be extremely effective for tanning but know that if one actively tans while using one of the peptides, once they stop it can be up to 2 or 3 months before a melanotan peptide tan will completely fade (one clinical trial of Melanotan one reported an 11 week period of fading) . Also the peptides are not "miracle drugs" they won't take skin that is in poor form and suddenly turn it into bronzed gold, anyone considering going this route should take a hard look at the condition of their skin prior to doing so. Look around for FAQs about this and fully understand how it works. Also it is very advisable prior to starting injections to see a dermatologist and have a general skin examination (in some areas of the world there are free/low cost skin cancer screening programs where during an exam you can concurrently inquire about the general state of your skin and about tanning in general as well as the peptides if one is so inclined, so ask your local health care practitioner). And a last point, if your skin is prone to have moles then you'll want to look into the aspect of how the peptides will affect moles. Moles WILL darken and at first set up a contrast next to untanned normal skin which can have a disagreeable appearance. As time goes by and the surrounding skin darkens this contrast will fade, but that takes a bit of patience.

I just read on one of these replies about st. johns. Wart. Well its a natural herb, the Germans use it a lot. It is used for an anti depressant. One of the side effects is that you can get an "allergic reaction to the sun", so I cannot see what purpose this supplement would serve as a tanning aid!
If someone taking injections for cosmetic reasons without taking notice of medical dangers associated with this kind of practice then that would seem to me to be niave and possibly asking for trouble. It is a very flippant attitude to take. |
