if you give away things for free then people will not look after them iykwim
never give your treatments for free.... maybe reduced but not free.... other wise its not just your time your going to lose out on its going to be the cost of the product too are you quite new to lashes? how long do they take you? are you mobile or salon based? (sorry not checked your profile yet) you need to take all this in to consideration..... with regards to pricing your treatment how did you work out your full set & maintenance price?? did you look locally, and just go with an average.??... did you work it all out taking in to account of an hourly rate you'd like to get paid? or look at average prices and a bit went cheaper?? offers..... i think may be 30% off rather than half price on first lash maintenance seems a fair deal.... do you sell any add on products or services?.... if so what about adding that in.... work out say what the price of something you would sell into the full treatment price and 'give' that away maybe hth Jess x |

Who is the offer aimed at? -
06-10-09, 01:00 PM
Before we can say if it is too generous an offer, we need to know who it is aimed at. For example, if this is an introductory offer to try and get new customers hooked, then it is probably a decent level of discounting. You'll make £40 or £50 (depending on whether the maintenance is free or half price) that you probably wouldn't have had before.
However, if you just end up with your existing clients taking advantage of the offer, you lose money - they'd have paid full price anyway, so you have lost their revenue. With an existing client, you could perhaps offer a 'buy three maintenance treatments and get your fourth free' offer, so again, you have £60 in the till and they'll keep coming back. Yes, you have kinda lost some money here, but they'll see it as a loyalty discount. The advantage to you is that you have got their cash in the till, so even if they see an amazing offer elsewhere, they'll come back to you. You could even implement a stamp-card scheme, where they get a free treatment when they pay (full price) for six. If you do this, rather than publicise it widely, keep it as an 'open secret' so that you can give it to your favourite clients as a way of keeping them on side - they'll feel more valued! |

I'm working mobile and the pricing for mobile technicians around here is about £40 - £50 for lashes. I've been doing them for 2 years now and used to charge £50 in the salon for a full set because I found people just wouldn't pay the £70-£100 other salons were charging!
They take me an hour to do. I worked out my prices by researching the local area and then undercut them (lol) and ended up being fully booked with eyelashes - making just under £50 an hour taking out overheads and products etc (i used to rent a room for £20 a day) I've been out of the beauty scene for a while and just getting back into and and don't have any clients yet so yes I'm trying to lure them in! xx |

The word FREE (particularly in capitals) is the best marketing tool ever invented!
If you offer clients something for free they are far more likely to come in and even more likely to buy something else. In fact, I've had clients who then feel obliged to buy something! |
