Clients coming to the salon ill - 24-10-09, 04:03 PM

Has anyone else found that recently your getting more and more clients coming to the salon for a perk up treatment such as a massage or a facial when they aren't well? How do you deal with this? I've wanted to turn clients away when they haven't been well in the fear of catching whatever it is they have myself but dont quite know how to and still look professional

I start putting eucalyptus, tea tree & lemon essential oils in the burner when this begins to happen to purify the air!

TBH i wouldnt treat someone that was ill in fear of catching it. As im the therapist i must be in full health in order to work and treat other clients.

It only bothers me when they cough in my face if I am doing something like an eyebrow shape or lip wax.

Otherwise the way I look at it is that you never know if any client is 'contagious' - ie, they could be about to go down with flu, a cold, a cough etc but have not developed any symtoms yet, but still be carrying the infection/virus and bringing it into the salon.

Also just because you are exposed to germs it doesn't follow that you'll automatically develop the condition, it depends on the strength of your immune system.

Violet makes an excellent point which i wish i'd stuck to as I wouldn't be in the situation im in now which is in bed ill with the flu and losing a hell of a lot of business. I've had to cancel a lot of clients because of it and feel lousy

Trouble is how do you judge who you can & cant treat, if they are out & about they cant be that bad, any of mine who are that bad will ring to rearrange.

You would never send your kids to school, they pick up loads of viruses....We are at risk everywhere where we are in close contact with others.....

Wonder how doctors cope??
