26-10-09, 07:23 PM
Hi everyone
I am opening a new spa in Nov and i have just decided to make one of the rooms set up so we could also do Colonics in there. I have heard you needs a sink and a toilet in there but can anyone help me with any other details i may need to know? I have tried to recearch it but its not easy plus i have soooooooo much other stuff to do as well! Help! I wont be doing them myself so am also looking for someone in the Burnley area who is qualified and experianced who would be happy to book in every 2 to 3 weeks to perform them. Anybody know of anyone who may be interested? Thanx Loads Liv xxx

I offer colon hydrotherapy at my salon.
I have someone who comes in and does them though! She does between 20-35 a month at my salon although she does have another salon 20 miles away. People do travel miles for this service. You don't need a toilet in the room! The room is right next to the bathroom though. The plumbing has to be exact, well with this particular bed it does. They use the 'open' system. It is a state of the art bed imported from America and there are only a handful in this country so i can only comment on this particular one. I've had a few and they are fab. The tubes are pencil thin and can be self inserted. She is I-ACT trained and think she did quite a bit of training. HTH |

Hi, Thanks loads for your msg. The toilet is quite away from the room so think it will be needed. I have had a colonic before and feel that i really benifited from it and would love to offer it as a service. The one i had just seemen to be on a regular beauty bed though, do you need to have to have a colonic bed? Do you have particular flooring in your room?
Thanks Liv xxx |

If you look on my profile pics you can see the room with the bed in. The floor in my whole salon is tiled so can be mopped.
I think with the 'closed' system you can do those on a regular beauty bed. I will have to ask my therapist when she comes in as the other salon where she works also offers the 'closed' system. |

I've had a series of these done in Canada, and can't imagine having one done without a bathroom in the immediate vacinity. My therapist used to issue special short "pants" (cotton fabric, kind of like hospital gowns) to wear, and I certainly wouldn't have wanted to walk into a public area wearing those!
She had a nice setup - her toilet room was put into a corner of the room, and was private and comfortable. As this is such a personal service, I don't think shortcuts should be made - definately get a private toilet room that is accessible from the therapy room. I'm thrilled to hear of this gaining popularity over here - they have a lot of benefits, and a previous poster is right, people will drive miles for this service. Good luck!! |

We do a lot of colonics at my salon and it's not very often that the clients use the bathroom after!
Whenever i've had one i've never used it. The system should hopefully give you a good clean out! The bed that we have has a little shower attached to it so you can clean yourself up after! Having said that, it is a good idea to have a toilet close by for those clients that need it. My therapist has a couple of colonics booked in today so i will ask her for some more information. |
