Stylist payment - mess - help please! - 28-10-09, 01:56 PM

i made wages payout to my ex - stylist.. on her last day. however my bank said it got rejected and didnt go through so i paid her in cash into her account. i never thought about it after that.. however i went online to check my balance today and they paid her again yesterday but 10 times the amount i asked.

after constant calls this morning it turns out the person keyed it in for october not september so it wasnt 'rejected'

they paid £630 not £63..

what they have said is they will write to her to refund it..AND THATS IT!

surely this cant be the case?

has this happened to anyone before?

Surely not. If that was their mistake they should fix it.

ive been told to wait for another manager to ring me..

OMG how frustrating. I would be fuming!

I think you should go and see the bank manager or someone in person. They always find it easier to fob you off on the phone. Also you could play the heavily pregnant lady card, that needs her money for the baby.

Its their fault, they should fix it and not later, now.

If the bank admit responsibility by making the mistake i.e. typing the wrong amount in then they can amend the mistake automatically and should be doing so. If you have in black and white, written down, what you instructed and they made the mistake it is down to them. They should amend your account immediately and without question taking in to account any charges or interest due and they can recall the amount overpaid automatically. Stand your ground. Go into the bank and play the heavily pregnant lady as they don't like to be seen to be in the wrong in fornt of other customers, but you may have more joy if you contact the head office and demand to be told the protocol to report this indcident to the appropriate financial ombudsman.

Hi leonnib.

I would ask them wot their complaints procedure is as you want to complain. And tell them if it doesn't get sorted satisfactorily with compo ie gratuitie payment for inconvenience and to pay for wots phone calls then you will take them to the banking ombudsmam. They are sacred of them. Hopefully they will get their finger out. Hth

Write them a letter and charge them £28 for it too.

More seriously this is pretty shocking and they should sort it out right away.

That's awful! And flippin typical bank, never contacting you back when you need them, only when they need you. Haha jo-from-moorspa, think you've the right attitude, although £28 might be a bit cheap lmao. Seriously though, I'd go in to see them so you're not put on hold, or told to wait on a return call! Demand this is sorted out asap and give them a good earfull! Good luck!x

Definately walk in there, and make sure you are heard

I am sure they will resolve it quickly so their other customers won't hear what is going on
