Have a look at salons direct. I remember seeing a nice little smallish one for really cheap xxx

Dare i say it........Ebay! Lol
I got mine from ebay and got an absolute bargain.
The desk had been especially made for a company for exhibitions etc.... They only used it once and they paid £4000 for it
I got it for £104
I think i got it so cheap because they advertised it in the shop fittings section so have a good look round on there and you never know, you might get a bargain like i did!

This is not a salon purpose one but ...

I bought a light wood, chunky book case from Ikea ... Set it up length ways with legs, it has 8 squares which each accomodate a large leather box pefectly...

So I have a long counter top & 8 storage boxes ... it looks fab...... & far more expensive than it really is .....

Champagne what a good idea. At the mo i have a breakfast bar which is ok so far but i want something bigger. I like the ones that are curved but i'm looking at £500 plus for a nice one. I am going to look at my ikea catalogue now! have searched on ebay to no avail. But i am keeping my eye on it. I will also look on salons direct but so far everyone h've seen is v expensive cos i want a bigger one. Xx

Surely you could have the shelf end turned out the way and have it for displaying products etc?x

at the moment i use a bookshelf from IKEA as a reception desk... and like u said use it to display my retail products. I would love one of those curved ones but currently they are a bit too expensive for my small business.Eden Beauty & Wellbeing - Gallery not the best photo since shelf is barely in it, but u get the idea x x x

I'm actually about to my one up on Ebay
It's a big curved one with a curved floating glass shelf.
Has metallic look veneer.
App. size 2m diameter and 1.5 high.
Very heavy and bulky, but does come apart for transit, but would still need 2 strong blokes to lift them.
Obviously quite tatty around the edges, but still a beauty for my start up. Was going to put it on a minimum bid of £200.00 which is a total bargain, probably would get more for it though.
Where are you based? I'm based in london.
Message me if you'd like to know more.x

I got this one for my salon. It is really great value with a nice quality finish and is ideal for me as it isn't too big:

Buy Brica from Beauty Express

Make One? Lol I know sounds crazy I made mine - I used some shelves that had been dumped had them resprayed then got a piece of wood cut for the front drilled it on and painted it silver then for the top got my brother to cut me a piece of indian sand stone....... total cost £30!! and looks amazing - really classy and contemporary I'll take wee pic this weekend, think if you have to keep your costs down its worthwhile being inventive.
