Just wondering what you all think of this?

had a phone call from a potential male client today he sounded really nice on the phone the tone of his voice was lovely quite etc, was very polite BUT seemed a bit nervous?

The story is he wanted to know what treatments i Offerd men in my salon.
Then he asked how long have I been in the industry.
Asked if i was the only thereapist ( though he knew a Male manager runs the hair salon downstairs )
Asked if I wear a uniform.

He said he was asking all these questions because he has never been into a salon before and feels quite embarrassed ( bless ).

He also asked if he would be coverd up, and said the main reason for that is that he might get embarrased if anything happend, ( need to use you imajination there lol )

So I Went through my massage procedure and explained I dont massage the abdomen on male clients for one reason he seemed fine about it all.
and did seem really nice he is in his late 30.s and seemed really nervous

And he did,nt make an appointment said he would have a think about it and get back to me.

What do you all think about this.

Does he sound genuine, or winding me up?

I car,nt make it out coz ive had quite a lot of men in my salon for various treatments but never had one asking me so many questions.

hmmmmm, think he might be genuine, but in my experience, men that ask so many questions are trying to book a sexual service.

I had one today (ad off gumtree), you know the pattern, ask you to list what type of massage you do, ask what do you wear to receive the massage.......can they book straight away.....

He might be genuine but I wouldn't be at all surprised if you never hear from him again. In my experience, guys who ask lots of questions, are not genuine, they have just phoned for chat to see what reaction they get. I'm not saying he is a perv (how would I know?) but really, asking if you wear a uniform...? I wear a uniform and I think we should all wear one, but clients asking? A bit strange.

I don't think a genuine male potential client would be asking such questions. Do you wear a uniform? Would he be covered up?

Thants what i thought though he had a lovely voice and manner i was a bit freaked out with the questions he was asking.

It was all a bit strange and had me thinking oh and the last thing he said was im 36 is that ok duh what a question to ask what has age got to do with a packet of crisps lol,,,, he did sound nice and all but was a bit freaked out

i mean do you wear a uniform lol...he probably wont call back as i told him oh yes i wear a professional uniform consiting of trousers and a tunic LOL

what did he expect a naughty nurse thats ok with the hubby lol...mind u my fella did laugh when i told him,,,

A few yrs ago, we had a problem with a guy phoning asking similar questions.
As most of us in the industry like to be helpful, he received lots of info about waxing.
He called a few different times, always with a slightly different query
eg. I want to book a bikini wax for my girlfriend, but I dont know which 1 to choose, Whats involved with each one?, will she need to remove her underwear?
It was at this exact moment that I clicked into reality and sussed that he was a perv!
The trouble was there was 6 members of staff answering the phone at different times, he always asked who he was speaking to, and it wasnt until a few off the girls discussed their conversations, we clicked he'd called numerous times.
I decided that they would immediately pass the phone to me if he called again and I told him the next time he rang, that, we had repeatedly given him all the info he needed and that we would not be giving out any more info over the phone, and if hegenuinely wanted to make a booking then he should do so.
Strangly enough he never did ...

Yes this was very strange did,nt think anything of it at first thought he was just generally asking what treatments that i did for men?

so i went on to say I can do massage, reflexology, facials, waxing, manicure or pedicures, thats when he said oh it was massage i was interested in, I do have male clients that get massages so did,nt think nothing of it.

It was only then he started asking these questions.

Do I work on my own, anwswer yes though the gentlemen you have just spoken to is the manager of the hair salon.

Will I be covered up? answer yes you will only be exposed when i am massageing a paricular area.

How long have you been doing this,,answer 6 yrs beauty not as long.

Do you wear a uniform? answer, yes i wear a professional uniform trousers and a tunic. that will put him off lol

end of conversation what is your name stupidly told him as i did,nt click at the time duh.

said because he is shy and has never been to a salon feels embarassed and would think about it then give me a call,,,,,, ( IMO now i dont think he will,,,,like you have all said was testing the water oh well, at least he was pleasant and polite and had a nice phone manner lol

Jesus what's wrong with these guys, they must have loads of time on their hands to be able to waste it on making stupid phone calls to salons. I suppose they must get off on it and think it's cheaper than paying out for internet porn sites . . . wish I had time to waste, my life's too busy and my time's too precious. Can't imagine a woman making enquiries like these, can you?

I don't think they were trying to wind you up, I agree with what some others say that he was seeing if you offer another kind of service iykwim. Don't waste your time thinking about it he won't call back. x

Defo a perv! But you did right by acting professinal! But for the record what does a perv sound like lol!!!

He may have just been a business man wanting something to help him relax and seeing if you were the right place without perhaps embarrasing you and him by just presuming.

I had a massage parlour over the road from me and I just gave pervs there number if they 'wanted more'!

Thinking back I should have done there sort of massage you should have seen the cars those ladies drove and the holidays they went on! I know what they earnt because they told me - why? because inbetween them offering 'massage' I did their nails, waxing & tans lol!

Hi there. I have to say I have had some experience with male customers like this and I'm not saying they are all like this but in my experience most of them who behave like that are not a normal customer. Unfortunately in our industry where you are dealing with semi naked people, there are those who get a kick out of it, if you get my meaning. The best thing i have found is to not react, just answer questions truthfully and always go with your gut instincts. If it doesnt feel right dont hesitate to say no to the appointment. I have had to do that on a couple of occasions, where i was made to feel very uncomfortable. My boss was very understading and in fact told me that was the right thing to do. Just my thoughts on the subject.

1. They ask what type of massage you do.
2. Once you have listed the massages you do they ask do you do anything else?
3. They ask for an appointment straight away.
4. They use a mobile number or a withheld number.
5. They ask too many questions as they are trying to ascertain whether you are going to do extras.
6. They ask do you do naturist massage.

This is strange!! but look at it from all views!!!

He might feel imtimated (if i spelt it correct) with a bunch of girls at the desk as he is walking in!!!

Maybe he never had a massage before he didnt know what to expect from a pro!!
