[quote=calla;849585] It's children in need on Friday too - another good place to get your name!
quote]

I did a charity waxing in aid of Children in Need on Friday. I waxed 4 guys chests / backs, charging £2 "entrance fee" to their work collegues so they could generally heckle and watch their terrified friends suffer. The result- 3 new clients!

That I did NOT expect! It turns out that they'd had bad waxing experiences before, and were pleasantly surprised that it's not actually all that bad when done properly.

The moral of the story- take up ANY opportunity to get your name out there. Clients can come from the most unexpected of places.

There will be more as and when I think of them! It's important that we share our knowledge and experiences, I think.

I received the book the other day. Just need to stop geeking & get reading, although I have had a quick flick through & looks like it will make for interesting reading.

I went to a council planning training session last night (I'm a parish councillor) and they gave me loads of really useful info. Snooping around their website this morning I found this - a free guide to marketing!
It's very easy to understand, a beginner's guide to marketing. See what you think!

Do you find that if you register you website on as many sites as possible also helps, it gets your webpages noticed doesn't it so that the search engines pick them up?

There was a thread about this I know and it listed a wholeload offree listing sites but I cannot find it any where

If you type in something like beauty salon your town in the search engine a lot of directory sites will come up. Makes it easier to find where to get listed.

Another good thing to do is to register your name as a domain name and have it redirect your main site. This way when someone types in your name (it may be all that they can remember!) there is a sporting chance that they'll get taken to your main business site.
It costs v little these days to do this (I registered most combinations of my name for under £30)
