Oh hunny, I feel so bad for you
![]() I remember when you were just setting up in your new salon, doesn't it seem so long ago now? I know you've probably thought a lot of things through, but have you been to the CAB? I know sometimes you have to sit there all day to be seen, but I know in my one there are days where you can get an appointment, although you may have to wait until wayyyy after Christmas for this so wouldn't be any use to you right now. Don't sell your equipment, you are a great therapist. The clients you have right now will almost certainly want to continue with you so can you consider doing it mobile or from home (maybe evenings if you plan to get a day job) just to keep the clients you have and keep your hand on the pulse, so to speak? Good luck to you Carla in anything and everything you decide. Don't leave us here, even if you pop onto chit chat for an upload of gossip from time to time! Sarah. xx |

Even if you could get part time work somewhere and still do a bit a home as well or mobile. Wish i could help you more chick.Things are so hard at this time.sending love and hugs to you!

can you talk to the hairdressers that you rent from and see if they can help you with cutting the rent for a few months, or ask if you can use it for 2 days a week rather than the whole week?
as said above, if you sell all your equipment and products you won't get much for it. if you decide to start again or keep some clients on, you'd have to buy everything again. obviously, big equipment need not be replaced, but even towels/bath sheets are anything from £5-10 each, and you won't get that secondhand. I've got a student that is setting up, I'll ask if she's interested in anything. |

Aww Bad luck can you not find some body in your area to share the room with you ifyknim two can pay the bills better than one, or try you local salons they may need help this time of year, if you have already got a client base will they stay with you, if they do then offer them a refer a friend gift, if your young and fit go mobile I found it to hard carrying everything with me but only cos am jiggered lol. Try and sort something so you can work from home and go to your nearest cab office they will help you out with something they don't want people to lose their bussiness, will the Princes Trust not help you with anything till at leat next year.
God it's really hard to know what to say I hate this Government its them that as caused all this their over spending 3 houses a piece, acouple of cars, Kids in Private School and all their holdays all of the backs of the workmen/women Try to keep as much gear as possiblebecause you will need it wen this reccesion slows down, as it will sell for peanuts my friend sold hers on ebay she got nowt for it and she paid thousand setting up. Good Luck with what you decide to do.

Carla,
can you not go to the bank and ask for an extention on the loan? I thought Gordon Brown was supposed to be helping people in this situation? I noticed by your website, you have another b.t. working with you, is she still doing so? Does she contribute? Can she not share the days with you so you are not letting the place go? If you still think the only way to help yourself is to sell up, then,if you haven't had any response with the sale of goods, pm me your list and I will buy some things from you. I urge everyone else to do the same. |

I bet if you did a blow out on all services you would get people in - just like a you will get people ready to buy your old goods. I cant tell you not to close but can you do one last fight this week? Call every single client and tell them you are turning over all your products to make room for the next year. you will do all treatments reduced until there is nothing left. Use up all your old stock I did this with Fake bake as it has an expiry date on I get 20 tans per litre only did a few so on a first come basis I would do them for €15 less.
if this gets people in the door than you will get a much needed cash injection and you can assess from there - either take the money and run or keep going. Honestly you will get a surge end of this wk and beg of next. I pray that you wont lose your home - its worth more to the bank to keep you in it so there must be something. It'll be tough whatever but pls stay strong

i want to scream, but thank you all for keeping me a bit sane. thank you for all you messages and advice and much needed hugs.
i just want to answer what a few of you have asked, i rent my property and if i could pay the £850 it would be ok i could carry on i can budget to keep the salon open as i rent above a hair salon and she has been understanding and put the rent back to 25% of my takings. alot of you said ask family i only have my mum who has that kind of money and she said she wants to teach me a lesson, basically for having ideas above my station opening my salon in the first place, i should have stayed at home on benefits! so ive been to CAB today gosh waited 4 hours she directed me to solicitors they took info and said they'd call me!! arrgh. |

at least you have been to CAB and you have got the ball rolling.
your mum sounds like a typical mum tbh, you either get smotherers or mums like yours. so, is their anything else you can do to raise this money that isn't going to bite you in the bottom in a few months time? |
